I am debating between either the Wooden Camera's AB system with their Quickback system, and the VF AB adapter. From looking at them both, it looks like Wooden Camera's system might be a bit more adaptable to other options for attachments b/c of their Quickback. Does VF offer any advantages over Wooden Camera?

The VF is great and is solid as a rock, I used it last week. Honestly I think both are pretty nice. Note that the VF's 1B cable is shorter, so you wont have a lot of extra cable as you would with the Wooden Camera. At the same time this could be a negative as it doesn't give you many other mounting solutions. Both items are back ordered now unfortunately, I've been looking at the two as well. The VF system I believe comes all together, the Wooden Camera you have to assemble a bit. Not really too involved, but hey, its a difference =)

VF will be offering longer cables that are user-installable. I got the VF/Brook plate and it's awesome. Very solid, flawless construction.

VERY good to know :D

I have both but haven't unpacked the Wooden unit yet. Should be able to share some thoughts soon.

If you are planning on using larger AB batteries, like the hytron 140s, stay away from the VF one. The mount puts the battery too far to the left (as viewed from the back of the camera), blocking the SSD from insertion. Im returning mine.

Only down side to the VF v-mount is that it doesn't transmit battery %.

VF a little....

VF a little....

Is this in reference to Viewfactor? What would one buy from them? Just curious. I tried to buy one of their follow focus units about 1 year ago. Wasn't a fan.

Just curious to anyone who is using the brick, I've read the manual on the RED Brick charger and in confuses me as it says to take it off the charger when it's flashing orange/green. But then it also says further down it's not charged until it's steady green. What have you guys been doing?

Steady green is full charged. When the battery is at 80% or higher you can take it off the charger as there is a curve to the amount of power vs. charge percentage. The last 20% or so of charging doesn't charge the battery nearly as much as the first 20% charging.

Wouldn't an advantage to the VF battery plate be that it attaches directly to the back of the brain? I thought that the Wooden Camera one requires an additional plate to go between it and the camera.

Kind of. The Wooden Camera solution looks basically like the VF product split into three parts (from what I can tell - quickback, battery plate, battery backing). Some may like the one-piece design of the VF plate, while others like the moudularity of the WC option. They both seem to take up about the same amount of space of the camera looking at the product pages:
