(Apologies if this is already in the Red One)
Here is my current workflow with a Canon TX1
I take a heap of hand held footage at 640x480.
Drop it into AE and motion stabilise most of the clips.
Export the piece at 512x384 (I don’t want to lose quality with scaling) to clip the black edges from the stabilised footage.
Here is an example…

and an other (this one could have really made use of Scarlets FPS)

I’d like to be able to produce pieces at at least ‘high def 1080p’ using the same work flow.
If I could ‘super’ a safe frame indicator in the viewfinder, set to ‘high def’ dimensions, I could frame my footage and get an idea of what my crop area would be when stabilising.
Ideally the safe frame would be drawn as a tic-tac-toe grid stretching across the entire field of the viewfinder which would be useful for lining up horizontals and verticals (attached is a simple illustration.)
The centre of the grid would be user configurable, and the colour of the lines would be switchable from black to white.
