  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Wireless Transition HDMI vs HD-SDI?

Arrow handles all frame rates between 23.98p and 60p at up to 1080p resolution.

we also support PSF.

Crossbow does not yet support 23.98psf, but all other flavors of P and PSF.

We don't use wifi, and don't bother with Chinese Clones.

We are the first and best, and we have the best support.

I know a lot of people claim to be experts on this stuff, but there is a lot more to it than meets the eye.

We are THE FIRST and one of only a very FEW who use authorized, true PRO chipsets.

Just because something has the word PRO in it does not make it pro.

Also, Arrow and Arrow+ do not use Wifi.

There is clearly a distinction between the Pro gear like Paralinx, Teredeck, and the consumer grade stuff like Nyrius. I bought it out of curiosity which then became a hobby. As it turns out, it's not too bad for what it is. There is not going to be any level of service on this cheap stuff so be aware. Also, I know Dan has been working very hard adding Pro features and accessories to the Paralinx line. So, no disrespect Dan!

If I can arrange it I would like to go with Paralinx. I know it is a quality product and have watched Dan operate it. Dan has always been very receptive to the Red community. Loyalty deserves respect. That's something Jim Jannard taught us.

The Paralinx arrow plus is great. I've been using it with 3 receivers for the last months and it worked great. If you need HDSDI, just pop it into the crossbow, cheap and easy. And their service is perfect.

The range is pretty good but drops quickly if there are walls between the Rx and the Tx, as any other wireless product.

Only issue I see with HDMI is that the connectors and cables are not thought for professional use and are quite fragile.

We're very interested in the Bolt and Tomahawk but can't seem to get info on price and availability LOL…Dan?

Thank you,

PCG

Big fan of the Paralinx Arrow and Plus. We have both and use them day in and day out. Lightweight, Rock solid little units that just work...no messing around in menus, no weird connection issues, just plug and play.

I just used the Radian Wireless (http://www.camotionllc.com/radian-a-106.html) in a 3 day shoot, and it work flawlessly. The battery lasted a long time, and it was really easy to mount on the camera. Not to mention that it is really light.
One day we had some quality loss on the director's monitor because several electrical lines were running next to the monitor, so keep that in mind.

Overall it was a great experience.

Quick follow up. When I started this thread I was really just searching for answers. Didn't think I would be able to find and obtain a wireless unit within a few days. Long story short... My Arrow + arrived today. Worked perfectly right out of the box.

Big thanks to Dan Kane who reached out a couple days back and made this possible. A little attention works wonders. Kudos to Dan and Paralinx. Now on with the shoot.

Just found out after almost of year of use, that my Teradek Bolt carries audio too. I set up my camera to record a marriage proposal and a monitor so others could watch in secrecy, and low and behold, they can hear it to. Why do I get the feeling everybody already knows this. Feel like a dope. :-)

Actually, one our cameras fried a Nyrius for some odd reason. I didn't expect them to do anything about it since it was kinda a gray area as far as warranty was concerned. To my surprise they replaced it and sent it back with additional accessory replacements. Not too shabby service. Friendly too.

On the other hand, I also own a Paralinx Arrow and their service is 2nd to none. Dan even gave me a good price on some of his own mophie batteries so that I'd be shoot-ready once the package reached me on-location in Miami, same day shipping via fedex overnight.

Paralinx has more range. Only thing I can say about the Nyrius is when you go out of range and then come back in range, it reconnects faster than Paralinx will. If Paralinx loses connection it needs a brief moment to catch again... at least in my experience. But, the fact that Paralinx covers longer distances kinda lowers the chances of stepping out of range.

Regardless which one you use, Paralinx accessories like the Shield is kinda must-have.

CMR has introduced some interesting accessories with their unit. I'd like to see Paralinx implement some battery mounting options as well. I also like that CMR offers a monitor yoke among their accessory lineup.
