  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Wireless HD kits available from OptiTek

concern...

concern...

So, my interest is piqued of course now, did you repackage the asus wicast in your own housing? Is it metal?

If it's metal that will obscure your signal strength quite a bit.

There are a lot of details about these new affordable wireless HD systems that is not immediately apparent.

Have you done any modifications to the antenna? It's a real bitch when the FCC shows up asking a lot of questions on a set.

My equipment is fully compliant with FCC regulations and functional over long distances. It is a professional tool for professional use. Thanks for bringing up your concerns so that I could have the opportunity to explain further
the pro build and functionality of OptiTek products.:thumbup1:

Mark this tech requires syncing pair so there is only one receiver per transmitter at this time.

Both this and the AirsyncHD will work with the 5D.

The problem with the 5D is that it drops to a 480p output when you hit record.

This causes a delay in the signal chain while the Asus Wicast (which is all this Optitek unit is) or the AirsyncHD switches modes back and forth.

All you have to do is look at the packaging on this and the Wicast and you will quickly realize it is the same thing with a nice little badge stuck on.

No disrespect, just gotta call a spade a spade when you see one.

Very interesting. Kind of funny that Dan is the one explaining a product that seems to have struck a nerve with him. I can say this, everything that Jacek has produced, whether it be customizing a current product or manufacturing a product, is made on a truly professional level. I wouldn't have an issue with this being a Wicast if he has taken it to the next level with professional casing, mounts, and cables. It takes the trouble out of trying to make it work for me. I would be very interested Jacek.

Hi Jacek!

I had send you the mail regarding about Wireless HD Kit... Thanks

Happy New Year!

Dan, I'm confused. Is this the unit you are referring to? http://promos.asus.com/US/Newsletter2010/System_Aug10/Stories/Lead_Story.html

If so, it says the transmission distance is only 33 feet, but in the video demo Jacek's unit works at 150 feet. Not saying you're wrong, just trying to figure out what you're saying.

There is no Competition.

;)

Facts are facts, and yes. This is an Asus WiCast ew2000.

The reason I am asking questions is that there is much that still needs to be clarified. Does it include the rod Clamp? What is in the total package for $600?

One needs only look at the shape of the plastic molding to know.
That's my last note on this product, and I apologize if there is any detraction from what Jacek is doing. Again, Bravo on bringing a product to market if you can do it.

Thanks Sanjin,
Finally we have affordable wireless HD. I've been waiting for a long time!!!
The SDI module will be an add-on to the transmitter so you can input (HD) SDI
HDMI is just fine for the receiving end IMO
Happy New Year Everyone!!!!

Jacek thaqnks too and

Happy New Year!!!!

Looking forward to get your affordable wireless HD product as soon as it will be available.

RX SDI

RX SDI

If SDI is available, I would love to see it on both ends.
Why is that Lee?
SDI monitors are generally more expensive and don't offer any benefits for wireless since the cable is very short and not frequently removed.
I'm not contradicting just trying to gage the feasibility of this option.
BTW As the engineer behind this product I'd like to answer the questions myself since I have the first hand knowledge about it..:wink5:
Having them answered by someone not familiar with it won't give any clear explanation (as demonstrated earlier)

Monitors with SDI inputs are common place on set and are typically industry standard on professional monitors. I have 4 of the panasonic 17inch monitors which are and all are SDI. The only HDMI monitors I have are computer monitors.

I'll probably only buy if it's sdi as well. Hdmi is fine for a dslr one man band but once you get into multiple client monitors and multiple monitors on the camera then it's not really feasible. Sdi is an industry standard, hdmi is a PITA.
The unit looks promising, though.

There's definitely something to be said for industry standard, otherwise you're making excuses.

Why is that

Many of us are interested in simply eliminating cables and have little interest in HDMI monitoring.

SDI is also essential for playback.

SDI contains very important metadata in the stream. I would like to see an affordable HDSDI wireless solution that preserves full RP188 Hanc metadata.
