Hey Guys,

I am beginning my journey into the camera world on a more full-time basis, and I have a question about follow focus systems. I wanted to know about the Run/Stop functionality between the the Wireless FF handset and most DSMC2 of the cameras.

1. How does it work?
2. Will a reciever need to be connected via the CTRL port on the camera modules like the Base Expander or Jetpack expander?
3. What cables will I need in order to have Run/Stop functionality with the hand-unit for FF systems like the RT Motion, Heden Carat, or Chroziel?

I will be using the wireless FF system with a Scarlet-W w/ the Jetpack SDI Expander on a Movi Pro

Hello,

For the RTmotion you need either the RTmotion Latitude Sidekick reciever (wich is mounted directly between the Brain and RED's Sidekick with data path through) or another Latitude RX (reciever).
It has to be powered either from the Dtap of your battery plate or from a Lemo depending the power source you use. The RTmotion Sidekick doens't use the power from the camera Brain.
To control the Weapon/Epic body you have to connect the CTRL Lemo 4 pin input from RED to the RTmotion Reciever with this kind of cable.
Now you are ready to control the lens through the camera with either Foolcontrol or the RTmotion MK3.1 handset controller.

When you use an external motor to control a mechanical lens you connect the motor with this cable. When using with the RTmotion sidekick I use 99% of the time the shorter RA version to control and power the motor.
If you want to use Thubwheel you connect it to the aux port of the Sidekick with this
cable.

Or you can just get the OptiTron2 kit and be done with just one cable plugged into the control port. Start/stop, image magnify included wired or wireless. No motor support, AF Canon mount and Nikon mount lenses only. Given the 1000s of lenses available you should have plenty to choose...;-)
