Wire transfer from UK

For those of you who already have your camera or have paid for it and are in the UK, what did you have to do to set up a wire transfer? Is there something I could be setting up in advance with my bank or is it a simple request?

Whilst your bank can do this for you, you might not get a brilliant exchange rate and you might pay a lot of charges.

An alternative is to use a forex dealer for your wire transfer - no charges, you can shop around for best rate. You have to provide fairly extensive id because of money-laundering legislation, but there are many advantages.

I was able to forward book an exchange rate for the likely delivery date, useful if you think the pound will drop against the dollar.

Thanks Mike, I had no idea about a forex dealer. Is that something in the Yellow Pages or do I have to search somewhere more specialist than that?
