Hi, I've just done some encoding of R3D files via CS4 - Canopus Edius for editing.
While my core2duo 2.4 coped fine, I'm going to choose a new system for background crunching.
Preferably laptop based, I'm not sure which would be better:a faster clocked core i5, or a slightly slower clocked core i7 quad-core. Which would likely be more benefit; the extra cores/HT or the fast clock speed of the i5 - in this given price range.
Any thoughts, I'm happy to go to desktop but as we're downconverting to 1080p on the move a laptop is more appealing - but I can be convinced otherwise.
Off the peg would be better.
Thanks.
