Day 3, Today I tested the o'grips to make a wheelchair dolly. Something used in indy film making.
But very useful for some applications.
The o'grips are really strong and as you can see I test them fully but it holds op very good.
The wheelchair I borrowed and has even suspension damping on it :-)

I've used the Ogrips on a few occasions. The best thing about them is that they're Rock Solid and You don't need a lot of gear to keep the rig stable.

First is the Steering Wheel rig. You can get some crazy shots using this rig, simple and solid.

Second is the Bike rig. I didn't even have to use any ratchets. If I were doing some extreme bike riding, I would have to strap it to a bike to make it more secure. This particular setup was used for a scene where a girl is crossing the Brooklyn bridge on a bike.

Third setup is a shower cam. Pretty hard shot to do without the Ogrips. It takes literally 5 minutes to set up.

Fourth is my favorite, Jaggercam. With a few Rail bits from My RED setup, I turned this rig into a fully functional doggiecam. The cheapest doggiecam ever! Works absolutely Great. You can also mount ogrips to either of top mounts or universal mount to achieve the desired height of the camera.

Very nice! I like your ideas.

Wow these things look super cool. However 90% of these concepts a "Magic arm" already does and for $100.

Just this morning in Las Vegas, at the last minute; as often happens in life and production- I was able to improvise a solution from what I had on hand. And it's a good thing I had an O-Grip!

The contest is still going, so we're still going to keep mum about the concept entries... as far as magic arms go, they're fine for some things, but when it comes to your dearest possessions, security is also nice :-)

Build below weighs in at 16 kg / 35.2 lbs. The O-Grips still had plenty of payload margin to spare...

True. I finally played with a set yesterday. I was very very impressed, but we also had a Magic Arm on the camera to hold an obie light ;)

...

Like I said in one of my suggestions above, they're effectively a stronger replacement for anywhere you'd use a magic arm, but need something with more carrying capacity.

Who ever wins these will be very lucky. Occonnor gear is tops in the industry in all fronts. www.finnerknowsbest.com will be reviewing the new matt-box very soon.

Just to be curious, who did win.. NAB is now over so I geuss also this compition. At least it says till NAB in the first post.
Or should we post , more ideas here?

I think the contest ended they just haven't posted the winners. Though I'm sure Oconnor would always love more ideas.

Hello Everyone,

We want to let you know that NAB was a great success for OConnor; but we found it to be an unrealistic timeframe for ending this contest with all that is going on. To that end we would like to extend it for another month to allow those people (particularly in Europe) who wrote to us a chance to participate.

So keep those ideas coming…the three winners will be announced June 1st.

I might be posting a little bit to much in this topic, but after trying the O'grips lot of ideas still keep popping on mind.

This idea (and forgive me the pore drawings) is more about run'gun filming.
The base plate could have a twist and lock pivot point, for quickly turn the positing of the camera.
In this way the setup of the same base could easily be changed in seconds.
And could turn for shooting with a view finder to LCD with the same setup.

Is the contest over?

Hello Shawn,

Thank you to everyone who participated!

The OConnor Team has met and the winners have been decided per the rules of the contest.
