25-40K~ mark (10K would be nice :thumbup1:) - 4K, 10bit projector; not interested in a screen. Also, it would have to be a good projector without any big lingering issues (aka no "but it has 4K!" as the primary argument to explain away bad design).
So far, nothing like this exists below the serious $$$ mark....

Considering some of the top LED, 3D TV's are in the 5-6k range, I agree this is a bit of wishful thinking. But yes, it would be great and the price for 4k has to come down at some point ... just probably not this low for another 2 years or so.

Btw, what's the best 4k projector that's available to buy?

Yes,

even so it will be very unlikely that this would the price, of course it is completely
unreasonable to believe that you can buy a 4k Projector near this price range. ;)

Sounds like someone just spilled an NAB secret to me...

Projector needs lamp replacement meaning additional $ for TCO. Where lower price point looses sense. Plus there is limited usage. Less sales then panel.
12 bit is not realistic at this point. 60" won't have as many uses as 40-ish version.

I would disagree, 60” that is only 1” thick is lighter than 42” that is 6” thick.

I handle 60” (LED-LCD) by myself and it is not too big for "4K reference" monitor.
Problem is that the 60” right now is only 2K.
42” I have to have help to move it around.

40" range version can more easily be used as a desktop space also without the need for two monitors with double bezels in the middle...plus there are other industries which would find 40" more practical. I wouldn't mind 60" as a reference monitor though...

Also, 60" falls into niche market. Which doesn't justify 10K price point for newly developed technology of this type.

Barco, Series2 4K DLP.

Some rumours of a modded super-contrast version might be available soon.
A Christie 4K DLP might be as good.

Both Barco and Christie has booths at NAB.

If desk is against the wall, you just hung it on the wall in front of the desk.

Now, good 60” 2K is sold for 3.5K - 4K wouldn’t you pay 2.5 times that for 4K?

When I talk reference monitor I mean resolution estimate purpose not color.
These LED-LCDs low end do not have HD-SDI or any 12 bit interface. No LUT ether.

This is 60" diagonal and 2" thick LED-LCD.
Now imagine 1" thick.

You can handle 60" yourself.

I want a 32" or smaller 4K or higher screen for the desktop -- a 30" LCD with double pixel density (5120x3200) would be perfect!. And I want a 48" to 57" (maybe up to 60") 4K plasma or grading monitor. And I want a 4K projector suitable for color work.

Desktop display needs to be under $2500. Plasma or similar monitor needs to be under $6K and the projector needs to fall under $25K. Oh, and the bulbs on that projector better not cost more than $750.

Make it happen and I'll buy.

The high density LCDs are coming sooner than a lot of people realize.
