CES would be a more logical place to release a consumer version.

RED is not attending CES 2014 as an exhibitor. They may have off-site invite-only exhibitions in private for specific demographics like some other companies do but I don't see that happening. NAB 2014 is where RED will likely put anything in the spotlight, if they have anything to offer at that time.

You may be right (if you release the consumer version through a CE brand, it would be on their stand). The bulk of sales and profit might be consumer up till recently, now too much popular brand competition is coming. Waiting till NAB to release a pro version is a delay. Anyway L, enjoy the conjecture.

I personally think that it would be better to have CES pre Christmas shopping period. Vendors have to break their Christmas break during the dead period, and release new product into a dead post Christmas market. We are seeing virtually is this leading some companies to dual major releases per year strategy that would be best to be more flexible or once a year. We are even seeing some companies not releasing much, or per release of products that turn up latter in the year. What is wrong with a September or August CES instead.
