Will there be simultaneous HD-SDI and HDMI output out of EPIC brains?

Hello there,

I think I read long time ago that the epic brains will be able to have HD-SDI and HDMI output simultaneously like the REdone used to do. But I haven't been able to read anything related to that recently.

Any news? I am trying to avoid buying Redbyte Decimator convertor. :-)

Thanks,

Thanks Bob,

I thought I read something long time ago, but ever since I asked with no answer and started to worry about. I desperately need that feature for steadycam!!

An ETA from RED would be awesome, even if it is the ambiguous "coming soon", "not priority" etc....

Hdmi calbes are so delicate and fat and awkward. Cost a fortune and near impossible to split signal without signal breakdown... In the feild they are highly annoying.
When we shoot car commercials we may end up with5 hd monitors on the tracking vehicle. 1 for the libra head operator. One for the focus puller. One for the 1st ad, one for me and another for the client. All feeding from the single Hdsdi Bnc .. Being split by simple 50cent T splitters. Even our remote on off runs on the same cable.

Do yourself a favour... Dump Hdmi : ). It's such a domestic home thing to use.

I have a Pananosinic Hd-sdi field monitor that I use all the time, but I do steadycam as well. The problem is that having wireless video is extremely expensive and also heavy, and bulky. I've used the camwave, very good quality, but adds weight and is expensive, so I bought an HDMI wireless consumer transmiter. For some of the stuff I do is more than enough, but the problem is that I downconvert the SDI to NTSC for the steadycam monitor, but I am stuck with the NTSC feed to transmit throught the RCA connectors on the transmiter, so the video image transmitted is not so good.

I just wish they activated both as I was able to do with my redone.

My original post wasn't a HDMI vs HD_SDI debate.

I agree that HDMI is a pain in the A$%^$%^. I have been there few years with the redone until I couldnt take it anymore and moved into HD-sdi world. Never been happier. But with this cheap consumer hdmi transmiters, the HDMi becomes again really interesting.

I already have a decimator, but not the HDMI version. So it sucks to have to buy another one, knowing that down the line they'll come with the dual system... will they??????? Any official asnwer??

Thanks for the link,

I didn't know about this one. Very nice. For my case I still prefer the Redbyte as I think it takes 1 HD-SDI and outputs SD and HDMI simultaneously, so there is no need for extra BNC splitters.

But still so far the best way for streadycam would be EPIC brain output both simultaneously. That means less cables, adapters and weight. :-) Some day.

The thing I would love to see is being able to get SDI with clean output (for client and proxi through Teradeck) and HDMI with all info on screen for 1AC or situation when you are not using the RED monitor.

It's not a matter of cable quality and size or signal.

HDMI + HD SDI at the same time is a must for most. You have a teradek HDMI which works on most camera (Red + 5D) you don't want to use special gear only for your red setup.
At least I don't. I want it to be universal. If I have to buy a converter for "every" camera..... it's not possible, it cost money for nothing, it's heavy, it's bulky.

For now I convert the signal with my TV logic but it made the monitor flickers when it activate conversion, i don't like that, it's unpleasant to look at.

Simultaneous HDMI + HD SDI should be Red next big improvement to Epic and Scarlet before anything else. We have output, people dont understand why they are not functionning all.

A eta on this would be really nice, can someone from red give that?

Wireless transfer thru HDMI is exactly why I'd love to have this feature too.
