  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Will their be different stages for the Scarlet as well?

Sorry this might have been covered already, but I'm wondering if there will be any different stages like with the other RED cameras,
or will the Scarlet when done be ready to be order directly, without it going through all the different 2,3,3.5... stages?
 
I dont think there will be stages, because I dont think there is a trade-in program for this camera. I think when its out, its out...but they may give some RED owners time to order before it goes public....but thats just a theory..
 
Well...it would seem very unlikely that there will ever be a "stages" process again.

Can't find the quote but remember it being said that when Scarlet is released that
there will be more than enough manufactured for everyone that wants to buy one.
 
I'm pretty sure Jim or Jarred said there would be a *short* window where existing RED owners would be allowed priority in ordering Scarlet. And the original 'October Post' stages document mentioned that RED owners who didn't execute their RED ONE for any of the EPIC stages would be eligible for a discount on a Scarlet package. But that's as far as it goes, AFAIK.

Which poses a slight conundrum, Mr. Hutson... now no-one knows exactly when Scarlet will ship, or when Stage 3 deposits will be taken, but the possibility exists that R1 owners waiting to execute their cameras in Stage 3 will have a chance for Scarlet priority if Scarlet is released before Stage 3 is opened for execution...

That wouldn't be a huge problem really - R1 owners would then have the choice as to whether or not they want to take advantage of their window to get a Scarlet, or wait for Stage 3.
If they take the Scarlet, then they wouldn't be able to partake in Stage 3. At least that would be my assumption (based on nothing of course).

I can see at least one potential reason. Your Red One works well for 90% of the work you do, but you'd like to add a Scarlet for a second camera, one that would work really well for run and gun, especially doc. 2/3 chip can be an advantage in certain situations. The price, especially after the discount you get via the Stage Deal I'm sure makes Scarlet an attractive option for some people. For others, Stage 3 Epic will suit all of their needs and the finances are in place to make it happen.
