  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Will S16 optic go on 3k scarlet ?

I tested a Zeiss Super 16mm set (9.5mm, 12mm, 16mm, 25mm, 50mm, T/1.3) once for this. Only the 25mm and 50mm were fully usable at 3K. The wides don't cover or porthole or vignette too much.
Test was done using a Epic MX at 2K and 3K.
 
Yes, Dragon has smaller pixels. 3K on Dragon is 15.36mm wide, whereas 3K on the MX sensor is 16.59mm wide. It will vary by lens, but generally speaking the wides are still going to show fall-off or vignetting/ port-hole at 3K on Dragon. Full coverage for S16 lenses would be a 14.5mm image circle. 3K 16:9 on MX needs a 19mm image circle to cover, on Dragon it needs a 17.6mm image circle.
 
I have shot 3K on both the MX and Dragon with s16 lens. It does not fully cover either of these but we have some canon zooms, the 8-64 and 11.5-138 and we end up with 2.5K on mx and almost 2.8k on dragon

Set you action guide to where you comfortable with the vignette or porthole and shade the rest of the area at 50%.
