The RED FAQ still says that they may release a Canon FD mount..

It is on RED's roadmap to offer a Canon FD mount. There are several third party developers working on or offering Canon mounts currently, so RED will evaluate these and make a decision on moving forward.

Does anyone know if this is still likely? I'm still desperate to use my full set of amazing FD lenses without voiding my warranty. Will the Birger mount allow for FD or just EOS?

as far as i know the IMS removes the collimation ring which (a warranty no no) and p&s technik hasn't sent red a mount to approve. i believe that's the only issue. they approved the birger mount (with modifications) and i would assume it should be an easier approval than that as there aren't any electronics in the IMS.

I, too, would love to use my FD lenses. Any word from RED on the status of the mount?

Anyone know if Red is still developing a Canon FD mount? Still in the FAQ.

We are open and willing to work with 3rd parties... if someone makes a mount, we will look at it and make the determination if it voids the camera's warranty or not. Some companies are willing to work with us to do modifications ( I.E. Birger ) to abide by the restrictions, and some companies prefer not to.

We have seen some very interesting Canon mounts in the process of development lately, some that not only pass the warranty check, but that we may openly certify as they require no deep modification at all to the camera.

Hey Jarred, sounds encouraging! Any idea if these are "around the corner" or months and months away?

Cheers,

Jim

I have the KMUSE as well, but I won't put it on my RED as it voids the warranty.

I won't be doing anything RED says not to!

I got the KMUSE mount before the warranty announcement, along with a full set of gorgeous FD lenses. All just collecting dust at the moment until a solution presents itself.

I thought the IMS would be perfect as I could keep using the RED 18-50 without constantly putting a mount on and off. But it's clear they haven't followed the RED guidelines and are off the table.

Kmuse already sells one. why would red develop one I have his nd it works great!!!

That sounds exciting. Can you give us some hints? (ET?).

PS: I only had time to reply to this because there was a 30 second pause in the Birger thread.
