  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Will nikon, Canon L series or Zeiss ZF, ZE lenses work on Scarlet?

Im just curious what lenses beside the mini primes will work on the interchangeable Scarlet. Does anyone have any info?

Actually, I think Nikon and canon mounts, third parts lenses as sigma and tamron for nikon and canon, Zeiss ze-zf with appropriate mounts (nikon-canon), 16mm lenses pl mount, etc...

If anyone can confirm? ;)

The interchangeable model Scarlet should accept all of the modular lens mounts and lens types that Epic can use.
So far those include Canon and Nikon with electronic controls,( don't know if electronic controls will extend to Scarlet or not), Red mini-PL, standard PL mount, and previously announced for Scarlet also C-mount and B-4 HD standard lens mount. Don't know when and what order those will be available, but the PL mount Canon, and Nikon should be there from day one in addition to the mini-PL Red mount.
So most high quality C-mount and PL mount or converted 16mm and S16mm camera lenses should work fine, plus C-mount industrial video lenses, B4 HD lenses. Personally I think 35mm still lenses, especially cheap ones, are not the best choice, but I am sure the top quality stills glass would perform OK, you just would not have any wide angle options there due to the crop factor of 2.5 compared to S35 and 3.75 compared to FF35.
I am planning on standard PL mount and a range of older 16mm lenses with conversion adapters of one kind or another.

I used this rig a few times. My Olympus 90mm f/2 Macro mounted on a Super-8 camera. With about a 6x crop factor the rig ended up functioning like a 540mm f/2 and the image quality was actually not bad. But of course the Olympus 90mm f/2 Macro was an extremely good macro lens.
