  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Widest 3D in a beam splitter.

82 degrees I think is said to be widest acceptable and that is still soft in the corners through the mirror. Its approx 15mm depending on what resolution you set the camera up to. You also risk getting the transmissive camera in shot of the reflected camera unless the mirror is huge.

I wish someone made a system that can put the 12mm Voigtlander or other small in size lenses side by side as they are very small and get all they see and channel the info to the 2 cameras L+R. I'm sure someone will do it but nothing like that exists now. Maybe a set of mirrors will do it.
 
On our beamsplitter we can just get about 17mm out of it at 5k.....As stated by Dave, the most i've heard is in range of 15-16mm at 5k before you need to make a volkswagon sized mirror. That said, i've heard ramblings of some using prisms to get wide 3d. Makes sense though as the next small 3d rig and using a prism.
