Wi-fi Control?

More seriously, I would love to use Wifi to :
- Remotely control the camera menus on my laptop / pda / iphone
- be able to send a single RAW frame grab from the camera to my laptop, to check it, grade it, and send the grading metadata back to the camera to include it with the shot
- have a wireless video assist ? That would be cool.
- remotely manage the data that's recorded on the drive / CF card, rename the shots, see / change some metadata, see a list of the shots with a small thumbnail for each one
- Remote start/stop, timelapse...
- remote control of the playback. Imagine you're sitting at video village with your laptop, just select a shot, hit play and it starts immediately, you don't need somebody near the camera to control it...

I''m sure we'll find other ideas, but this sounds like a very promising feature.

Meta data is very powerful. you could do things like give your characters numbers and then give props and costumes numbers and then search for things like give me all shots with this costume in it. would be great for continuity

coupling this Wifi feature to a database software could really become very powerful.

I'm sure the Red One doesn't have the wifi built in, but if the wifi is to control the camera, could there be an adaptor through the Red One's USB port?

That, together with the iphone SDK, would be incredible.

RED One has USB and SD slot - both could be used to provide a WiFi interface, physically. Whether there is the option beyond that is unknown - but presumably if RED are building Wifi control for the other cameras it is something that could probably be implemented elsewhere too.

Another idea : if multiple cameras could 'talk' together via WiFi :
- Jam sync of multiple cameras
- start/stop recording on multiple cameras at the same time.
- change same settings on multiple cameras at the same time.

This is getting too exciting - pretty soon I'll be able to control my camera in the studio while I'm at the beach.

Now if we can only make it waterproof - I could do it while surfing!
(the "real" diehard film guys reading this must be going nuts.)
