Why would anyone replace the EPIC fan or fans with SCARLET fan?

I came across this EPIC for sale and noticed that it had Scarlet fans. The seller says that he purchased the fans from RED and replaced them. (I have no idea why one would use Scarlet fans for this)

Can anyone tell me is this would jeopardize the functionality of the EPIC? Would the Scarlet fans be strong to keep an Epic cool or as cool as need be. Says the unit has only 8 hours of use.

No they are all the same fans except for the plastic logo that is replaceable. There are only two fan systems... original and then the 2.0 and they are interchangeable with Scarlet and Epic.

Ok thanks Bob.

The seller also includes the original fans and covers - so you can always swap back to standard config...
However - I would be more worried about actually buying Epic from eBay. It might be genuine - but the vast majority of REDs on eBay were scams.
Verify with RED the ownership of the camera and where it suppose to be (some folks could use a serial from someone else's Epic).
Also - the body sure looks like it has more then 8 hrs of operation behind it...
Just be careful!

PS: Also realise this is only the BRAIN - you will need to spend a bit more just to even turn it on and check it is working...
