  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Why was my Thread in epic owners deleted?

Im new to this forum but i dont think i broke the rules or anything. My thread was basically announcing my epic in egypt. I did post a video of protests that i found on youtube to give an example of what im going to shoot as a reply when asked what my first posted footage was going to be.

Whilst I am not an expert on what is allowed or disallowed in forums such as this I think it is a general rule that religion and politics (no matter how well intended or honourable the cause) tend to cause a slew of comments completely unrelated to the camera and its purpose—which is the point of the forum. It is not a public arena, it is a privately owned meeting place—its Jarred's house. Having said this if you had shot something on RED, and it was politically motivated film (providing it was not offensive to other members I personally would not see it being an issue. At the end of the day these cameras were built for this kind of ability of being discreet, yet built like a tank. I'm definitely no stranger to going out with a camera amongst the chaos.

Also and possibly just as likely there is no longer any discussion about other cameras on this forum, so if the video you posted was not shot on RED that could be another reason.

If I'm wrong then I will allow for others to correct me. :)

Peace and safe shooting.

I don't think it is a good idea to ever post someone elses work without their clear permission - on this forum or any other.
If asked what you plan on shooting, why not go out and do it yourself - a reasonable approach since you bought a camera.
Posting someone elses work brings in questions pertaining to legal liability.

There are cases where the posting of an image relates to the art of cinematography - for example, to ask advice about how they achieved a look. That feels in keeping with the intent of REDuser.

As an earlier response indicated, this forum is not about social issues - there are plenty of other sites out there that cater to that demographic.

it was a video off youtube from a news network. It was just a report. I cant go back and shoot events that already happened. I was just saying that i'll shoot the next protest with my epic. The other video wasnt a work of art or anything it was just a news report. I wasnt posting it to talk about my political views since i hardly have any.
