  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Why not make CCD a sensor / module option for the DSMC?

Forgive my ignorance, but wouldn't digital skew due to the rolling shutter be relatively easy to fix in post? In the digital realm it skews because the lines are offloaded/stored in sequence (albeit very rapidly). Seems to me that this is a simple function and that the data is there and could be corrected at the expense of overall resolution (shoot a wider lens than you need to pad the sides).

Some in this thread are comparing it to film. Film cameras that use the round mirror shutter that exposes radially, which means the temporal exposure of the corners closest to the rotational axis of the shutter will be different than the temporal exposure of the far edge of the frame. This would set up a complex blur function (radial based on time ) that I'm guessing probably wouldn't be readily detected by the human eye and impossible to correct in post.

Not sure what Max's needs are, but it may come down tho the simple fact that no single camera in the market today is the perfect solution to every task/need. The Red technology is so revolutionary that is actually expanded the solution space that digital can cover, even so it is not the perfect camera for every task.

There are already some tools that do this. Makes a big difference on the VDSLR footage as their rolling shutter issues are much worse than Red.
