  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Why not join the ACTUAL scarletuser??

I wanted to chink-in...

First there was a REDUSER. I joined when I found out about Scarlet. I have a lot of personal and business interest in Scarlet. I am DP for both stills and motion. I have used Red One on number of projects. I am getting my own Red One as soon as I can pull the money together (hopefully couple more weeks at the most). But Scarlet is the real-deal for me...

When Scarlet had only small section here on REDUSER I have mostly posted in there. Then NAB came and the section was quietly moved to a dedicated forum - SCARLETUSER. I was one of the first to join there and I continue to be most active over there. Jim, Jarred, Jon and few other RED teams members have clearly stated that SCARLETUSER was not meant to be a place to get rid off all the "whiners" from REDUSER. It was meant to be a new dedicated home for a special community in its own right. After the DSMC was announced, this section sprung to life - and in my opinion to an unnecessary confusion. I really can't see the reason for this section here. You either fuse the two forums - which may make sense for many reasons, or just keep them separated - which also makes sense for many reasons. But this "hybrid" solution is uncalled for. It undermines the actual purpose for SCARLETUSER and confuses many new members...

This is my first and hopefully last post in this section...

Just my two pesos...

I agree. It seems like the reopening of this section is a bit redundant repeating myself. :)

But I utilize both, and have even before this Scarlet forum was opened up again. Its nice to talk with professionals and get some insight into the realities of the movie/tv/commercial/music video industry. There are people on these forums that actually do these things for a living, and professionals and amateurs alike flock here to support RED in their cause.

But I do like Scarletuser, just because it seems like its more laid back and easy going. And it does seem like there are fewer whiners over there than over here, I think its mostly because the type of filmmakers over there have never had any type of camera even close to the original 3K for 3K Scarlet. We've been using DV and HDV predominately. So I think most of us are just grateful for what we can get.

And also, Scarletuser has waaaay better emoticons. lol. :)

Who cares? You stop here and there, read, contribute some and thats it. If you don't want to be part of the discussion fine, nobody, except Jim Jannard and the people working directly in the Red projects, is indispensable. The internet is an universe of information. Put 99% 0f your energy in shooting, enjoying the process and making money if you want. When a forum or two takes possesion of your soul it is not a good sign. Go out and shoot for God's sake.

I like both ScarletUsers,
they each have a very different feel and attract a different type of customer.
For a while there I had neglected the other ScarletUser
but now I am making the effort and being rewarded.

And also, Scarletuser has waaaay better emoticons.

Mr Land - can u bring some of those emoticons over here?

I'm sure that most of us are shooting. I mean look at the Red team. They all post on both forums a lot, but they're also building the cameras we are hyping over. Everyone has downtime, and inbetween shooting or if you're stuck in preproduction (like me right now, lol) then it doesn't hurt to sneak on a forum or two.

The reason for Scarletuser, in my opinion, was all the negative reaction from Reduser during NAB 2008. Now that Scarlet is more defined and people caught up to Reds vision(due to more info), there would be no need for the two sites except the people who stuck with Scarlet on Scarletuser became its own community. It was a combination of Reds miss marketing(socker moms) and Redusers unrealistic hype in Scarlet, due to the Revolution of the RedOne, that cause us to be where we are. Its funny because it seemed that Redusers seemed to catch up on Reds direction right after Scarletuser was created. :)

P.S. I know Red/Mods have said it wasn't this, but lets be honest.

Also I am for dedicated Scarlet forum, as by the end of this year the Scarlet owners will outnumber Red One and Epic by at least 10:1 - can You imagine the size of ScarletUser then to be integrated here? Just imagine being a Red One / EPIC user trying to find something on the forum. One more reason to move this section to ScarletUser and leave in its place a pointer to the ScarletUser forum - as it was before...

I agree with that or move everything from Scarletuser to Reduser, though it would be more difficult to merge the two sites.
