Why no drag and drop in red rushes?

Sorry to bitch a little bit, but the fact that you have to navigate to every .r3d file is a huge time waster. Kind of defeats the purpose of this otherwise great app.

Is there a reason why drag and drop was excluded? I'm no coder, but it seems like that shouldn't be too hard to do.

Also, when i try to use the Look source as .RSX and within the RSX settings box i choose "selected RSX" for all clips to use, it just renders out blank white quicktimes. This will also be a huge time saver if I could get it working correctly. Going into every clip and setting the RSX info is tedious and takes forever. Anybody else get this feature working?

Running quicktime 7.5.5 with latest REDCODE QT Codec.

It works fine for me. Did you really select an RSX or only activate "Selected RSX" in the drop-down?

I second your request for drag-n-drop.

If you're on OS X 10.5, try Clipfinder. It supports drag & drop, customizable render presets, dynamic debayer resolution, etc. You'll love it.
Also, setting the look source to a single RSX file for all clips works fine with it.

Cheers,
Hans

P.S. Be sure to read the Help Pages.

Here's a quick guide to avoiding the 'white' render problem you are having. This will apply an .RSX "look" to every clip you batch in RedRushes

1) Open an .R3D in RedAlert and apply the curve you require, and any other changes you want applied to every clip in your RedRushes batch render.
2) Close RedAlert. In Finder check the R3D folder you were just working from and you should find a new file with the extension .RSX – this is your "look" file.
3) IMPORTANT: Move this new .RSX file elsewhere (I personally use the desktop). You can rename the file so it is easier to find later on, but don’t use any spaces or special characters. For example, I named mine S_CURVE_REC_709.RSX. (Under RedRushes 3.5, all your rendered clips will come out white unless you move the .RSX from its original folder).
4) Open RedRushes and import the .R3Ds you want to batch render with the new "look". Under the “Render” section set “Look Source” to .RSX. The .RSX settings panel should now appear down below. Change “.RSX Source” to “Selected .RSX”. Leave “In/Out Point” as “Ignore”.
5) Hit the “Select .RSX” button and find the look we created (and moved) in Step 3.
6) Set the Colour Space, Gamma Space and everything else you require under the other tabs and hit start. The "look" will now be applied to each rendered file.

I just drop all my R3Ds (and their parent folders) in a 'master' folder and select this folder in RedRushes and all the R3Ds within import at once.

i which I could just double click an .R3D and it would open in red alert. or at least right click and "open with" red alert. :(

Thank you, the problem was that the RSX was still in it's original folder. I will try the one folder select method and let you know if that works for me.

What is "Clipfinder?" is this a red-rushes alternative?

skipdivils,

Rendering time is the same or slightly better than REDRushes. Clipfinder uses the same render engine (REDline), but gives you more control over the number of simultaneous rendering tasks.

One more vote for Clipfinder! Lots more options and it is great that you can pause the render. You need to be on 10.5 though.

I have nothing but great things to say about Clipfinder. I've been using it for my current project, and this app with Red Alert, you will be flying through hundreds and hundreds of R3D's. I just don't know why such an awesome app is not creating enough buzz right now. I guess not so many people know that this is a free software, too. Cheers to Hans!

Oh, one more thing.. I hear there might be In/Out conform function implemented in the near future.
