Why is the EUROPE store price much higher than the US?

Don't get me wrong. I understand that there might be extra costs for selling to European customers.

But I've found it a bit abusive for a while now, for example here's the price for DSMC2 7' Display Woven CF in the US & European store.

US: $2950
EU: €3235

Does someone know why there's such a big price difference? (Specify the costs)

Also the Euro is worth a bit more on the dollar, today's rate you pay about $3416,28 for the display if you're a European customer.

To me it feels a bit unfair but maybe someone can clear up my mind with a specified explanation.

I think it's because they are jealous of our excellent European cheeses and seek to redress the balance.

But seriously though, it does suck big time. Has always been this way and is not exclusive to Red. I imagine there is some sort of EU tariff on non EU electronic goods or something. Either that or we have to pay a tax for being so cool on this side of the Atlantic :(

Not always been this way tough. Summer 2013 euro prices were lower than USD. Has to do with constant fluctuation of dollar vs euro prices. RED cannot keep updating it all the time with the current values.
Plus maybe now the prices of importing the goods to the EU are increased I don't know that for sure, but it can be.

Rule of thumb in the UK is the dollar price becomes the £ price, so $1,000 becomes £1,000 instead of (at today's rate) £821.

The only change is the value of the £ plummeting.

I've never ordered from the RED US store to the US, just ordered from the US store when I was in Toronto, Canada, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. One reason might be that with EU, the VAT is already added whereas the sales tax differs from state to state in the US so it'll be added upon check out?

When I was ordering through the US store to either Canada or Malaysia, I only paid the listed price as I was outside of the US so no sales tax was added.

It represents an additional margin the European partners (Pinewood Studios) get on the products.
You have to remember they are not RED, though they have had to setup a facility to repair and distribute, which is likely partially covered by the additional costs.

Scratch that... I just went on the EU store and noticed that VAT is not included in the price.

its to do with shipping and customs... i guess. its kinda like if you imported goods from US to europe. You pay shipping, FedEx is not that cheap, then you pay VAT on the goods (you get that kinda back if you are a business) and custom fees. So that adds up.

The Brexit is sad for sure. At the same time, and ironically, it's the best moment for the other european residents to buy from UK. I bought a Varicam LT for 7000€ less than the french/german price. Compared to the price of the Scarlet-W with VAT on the european store it was a no-brainer.

It is more expensive for a few reasons. I am finding reselling tough also due to the difference as to make our Red competitive with the US second hand makes taking a large hit financially due to VAT etc.
