  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Why is it Cameron & Jackson have all their stuff, but I don't?

I already know the answer, just throwing it out there.

Hobbits and Aliens notwithstanding, I need the battery module, anyone else got theirs yet?

Do not throw your s*&^ at us. This is a rude and uninformed attack in the form of a question. To quote you, "just throwing it" back at you.

I really don't think Hobbit and Prometheus... have all their stuff... they after all are shooting 3D and just need the bodies. I'm guessing that they probably just purchased the bodies solely. Don't know why they would need 40/50 side handles, redmotes, etc.

Actually, thanks to the reassuring fact that Cameron and Jackson bought into this project, I took the leap on a Scarlet....what can go wrong when the very best also believe in what you believe?

:wink5:

Maybe they were just a bit more polite than you were when you asked this question?

But I reckon you already know the answer.

Because they are Cameron and Jackson :-)

Easy there cowboy :-) (the OP)

As Andrae says they probably don't have batt modules either since red bricks or Anton Bauer batts probably work just as well (or better with cables to off board battery mounts) for those big cine and 3D rigs.

I was a bit bothered by no batt module -(teased Jarred last week that the warranty on the revolts might expire before we get a module) but then I realized that it appears NO modules are shipping -so I suspect they are waiting to fully test the various combinations of rear modules before releasing ANY of them. Frustrating for us, but it makes sense for Red to avoid sending out a couple thousand modules before they are sure everything can play nice together.

Patience (and maybe a few Xanax) are essential for early Red adopters - but on the other hand it might not be so bad for everyone to hear the wheels squeak every once in a while.

This is a funny thread.. I'm gonna slip back into "old Jay" for a moment.

Dude as much as I love you, and I'm sure you make nice stuff, if Cameron and Jackson do get all their goodies, even MONTHS before you do, I'll be happy about it. You see, I don't get jack if you get your stuff. But when Cameron and Jackson post their little Facebook videos of EPIC gear on their site, that DIRECTLY helps me get more work wtih the camera.

So why do they get stuff before you? CAUSE WE WANT THEM TOO!

Jay

And, as I am sure you have already figured, this benefits you as much as I.. We need good PR!

OH PLEASE... stop attacking him. If he's uninformed then this forum is the place to get informed for a lot of people.

Ok guys, politeness must come from both sides.

Exactly!

Simple answer to this thread - Jackson and Cameron are making huge budget movies that have huge publicity - which equals publicity for RED. It's called advertising.

From the beginning (and I do mean the very beginning) of Spiderman, we powered the Epics with Anton Bauer VCLX Battery Block. We are still using them. Can run the cameras all day long.
We didn't use the RedMote and had customized bracketry and AKS from Panavision. RED supplied ll the Epic M bodies and support staff.

This forum is the place to get informed by reading. If one does that, one will find this question asked and answered here many times. Even a light skim of the forum would answer the question about the battery module in about 5 different ways, as well as providing information on other ways to power the camera.

I'm very happy to answer questions for someone who asks, for example, "Does anyone have a battery module yet?" or "How do you power your Epic if you don't have a battery module yet?" or any one of the many ways this question could have been asked. But it was an insincere question. He said so himself, "I already know the answer, just throwing it out there..." It was an attack. And I was offended. The accusation about unfair preferential treatment for Cameron and Jackson has been made many times, and answered by many people, including Jim Janard. We don't need to go there again.

I apologize. I'm grumpy today, so I said what I really thought.
