Why is it called RED?

[Chris Parker]

On set right now. Someone just asked me, 'So why is it called the RED Camera anyways?"

I thought for a minute, and did not know.

Is there a good story behind it? Why is it called RED?

[Raul Gonzo]

I may be wrong, but I thought it was called "RED" because that is the most important color on the camera- the REcorD button...

[Vesa Rönty]

I had the same question in set and I answered the same, from the record button. Another answer could be REvolutionDigital "Redolution"

[Ryan Manes]

Because Jim wants it that way.

[R. Schorman]

I thought it was because Red is the most powerful color.

I Think because of the Sensor color:blink:

[Ed Watkins]

Because Chuck Norris owns the color blue.

[number6]

I always assumed it was because of some military connection with the unit, The Big Red One.

Why “RED”?
Last Updated at Apr 23
No mystery, no hidden message, RED is simply the color that represents strength, power and passion, in addition to being chosen as a favorite color by a high percentage of the population. When researching the color Red, one learns that Red “grabs attention”, gets people to “take action” and suggests “speed combined with confidence and perhaps even a dash of danger”, all apropos for the RED ideology.

I think I like this answer the best.

When I tell people the camera is RED, the most common question I get asked is - Is it by Sony?

[Gary Stone]

now you can answer: "hell no, thank god."

I have noticed that reading the whole thread before replying is a good approach.

But I rarely do it. :bleh:
