  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Who wants to make a short western?

Just do a youtube search for "Fairfield Primer". It is just a few shots lined up to show the actors the special effects we did. An official trailer will come over the weekend.

I would think that might be a first, coming from Mexico to Illinois to do a western but the prairie is an underused slice of Americana.

If you want to talk about the kinks process we had making it for no money at all or you need an extra prop drop me a PM.

Okay, did that and it won't play. Nada.

What I'm looking for is someone to make the film. I can do the writing, storyboards and some casting, maybe line up the score. The rest is out of my league - ie: no camera, no crew, no director talent!

Have a few 'off-the-beaten-path' ideas I'd like to work with.

Weird its been up for a month. I'll send you the official trailer on vimeo this weekend.

I don't have time to produce/direct a short this summer due to scheduling, but I will be buying a Scarlett, if it is released to the general public by then, and I have a box of western gear (clothes for 3 men, and 2 women). I'd love to help out if I can.

If you want a ear sometime I'm interested in your off the beaten path story ideas.

I'd love to put a crew together, but man, last time I tried that in Chicago it was a bonafide nightmare.

Over maybe a 6 month period gearing up for production, DPs came and went, Directors came and went, PAs came and went, and on down the line through electrical, sound and lighting. The only constant was the actors and the script - though it did have a few rewrites, which is common.

A few days before the shoot, and with actors already packing their cars and having made hotel reservations, the last and final Director vanished. Money was moved to other projects without telling anyone - on and on it went like this. And no, the film was never made.

I'm terrified to ever try again.

If you come back, give me a shout.

Glad you approve! The effects will get better as we go along.

Well in defense of my windy city compatriots, schmucks like that live here like anywhere else but we aren't exclusively unreliable jerks. Plus I'm from Cincinnati, a very trustworthy city. It's terrible that you went through that, we all have our hell shoots.

I hope in time you can trust us again.

I would love to do a film (or 2 or 3) in and around Chicago and in greater Illinois. Lots of great / fantastic settings there.

That experience certainly ranks at the top of 'hell shoots', but I think it was a jinxed project from the start, no matter where it would have been set.
