So I'm in LA for LART and want to do the cliche' Universal studios deal.

Anybody want to join me?

Anybody want to talk me out of it?

Anybody with a better suggestion?

As an added bonus you could come hang out with the hot chicks Trixie and Danny I met last night. They both have adam's apples, large hands and are very tall for women but they have killer bods and told me they knew Eddie Murphy so thats cool.

Who's up for Universal on Monday though????

If you want to have fun in a movie oriented theme park do Universal (I love the mummy & Jurassic park rides). If you want to spend (a lot) more cash go with the Universal VIP (order in advance!), you get a personal tour guide all day (including in the theme park) and you get to do a custom tour route.

By far the best studio tour in town (as far as I know I've been to all, Universal, WB, Paramount & Sony) is the Warner Brothers *DELUXE* tour (not the VIP one). This tour is about 5 hours and includes lunch in the crew cafeteria (great great food) and you get to look at sound mixing stages etc. On this tour we were allowed to watch some outside ER shooting, but there's of course no guarantee that you get to see anything (with the strike these days the chance of seeing anything is actually rather small?)

The WB VIP tour is about 3 hours and follows a more set course with no lunch.

In the end you'll get a glimpse but you won't see any of the really cool stuff so to speak. If you know some people actually working on something that's usually a better way to go ;)

I also had fun being in the audience of Joey (when that was still on the air) once... interesting to see how they shoot sitcom

Just have lots of fun, there is more than enough to do around here!

The Spiderman 3D ride is very cool, too. The Hulk rollercoaster made me very dizzy, though. Have fun!

Are this in Universal LA? I don't remember seeing any of these rides....???

LOL, It didn't even occur to me that he was talking about Universal Studios in California... I've been to the one in Florida several times, which includes the "Islands of Adventure" theme park. This is the one that has the Spiderman 3D and Hulk rides. Sorry, Finner! :spidy:

Son Of A ...

You got me all excited!

You´re scaring everyone away with your avatar, Finner - how can anyone measure up?!

Joking aside, if I didn´t have to deliver my kids in kindergarden at 9 am, and the little detail of a 12 hour long-haul flight each way - I would have jumped on the offer.... I am childish enough to enjoy Universal Studios to the max! Not to mention the weather... outside it´s snowing AND raining and it´s kinda windy... and it´s barely light enough to see - even though it is daytime (no need for NDs today).

Just so you all know,

Finner and I spent all day at Universal Studios and we had a blast. The "Mummy" ride was da shiz!

Jeff: what did you think of the Jurassic Park ride? The Mummy's pretty cool indeed

Rob

The Jurassic ride was pretty good but the magnet system used on the mummy ride made instant acceleration and instant stops unbelievable.

This quote is not figurative of the ride for Jeff. "da shiz" explaiins it perfectly as after our third go on the mummy ride Jeff had to hit the bathroom immediately and proceeded to spray paint the bowl. Serves the guy right though as I offered to pick up lunch and Jeff grabs a water that turns out to be like $8.

Hey Chuck

Had duclos set the front and rear for me last week and the lens looked fantastic at lart. Tests should come out soon. Cooke's are beautiful lenses.

If I may ask... how many shop hours did they charge for setting up the front and back focus? Yes they are quite nice are they not.

Next time try out Superman at Six Flags Magic Mountain or that fast ride at Knott's Berry Farm... they have a lot more acceleration ;)

Apparently Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point is the king of 'em all though :)

Wussy ;) I've done that thing three times back-to-back as well, no problems :D It's a great ride

The Jurassic Park ride... It's the generic "log ride". You go up a hill, float a bit, go up another hill, float a bit, then you go down a big hill and splash in the water. You get to watch plastic animatronic dinosaurs spew water and twitch. I got a chuckle out of the one in a boat ripping up a plastic bag that had Mickey Mouse on it though. I actually wasn't too impressed with the actual ride.

The mummy was cool. The magnetic drive system made it a lot of fun. Oh, and if you go, be sure to sit in the front of the car -- those are the best seats.

Shrek 4-D was fun. Finner screamed like a little girl when Shrek dropped all the spiders.

Overall a good time. I hadn't been there in at least 15 years and there was so much new stuff. We didn't do the cheesy studio tour. We just did the rides and shows.
