  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Who is the REDUSER?

- $2,500 - Canon 5DMKII

- $500 - zoom lens

- $350 - CF-Cards+ Reader

- $ 300 – HyperDrive

- $599.00 – MacMini

- $1,000 – Final Cut Studio

- $ 700 – Tripod + Bags/Cases + Stuff
________________________________________________
- $ 5949 – Total Minimum Cost

BARE Minimum. post production will take very long time, so what? who cares? You can deliver your first project with this setup. Then you can upgrade everything to all the fancy stuff. If your first project does not make $, you shouldn't be in this business in the first place.

- $5,245 - Fixed lens Scarlet kit + 16gb CF card

Hi Cid, I think you got that from the Scarlet primer thread. 16gb CF cards have gone down to $300 since then and I just got around to updating it today.

The price is now: Fixed lens Scarlet kit + 16gb CF card - $5,045.

When I grow up, I don't look forward to shooting on RED, it's just a middle step after DSLR. I look forward to shooting on cameras I can't own or buy, Film son! Panavision for life. I'm worn, tired and just don't care anymore about RED cameras, there are other options to learn from that are readily available and fully functional.

Camera Speeding!

That begs the question of what you're doing on REDUser at all? And why are you acting so provocatively? If you don't care about RED, their current offers or their upcoming cameras then the door is right up the corner of your screen marked with a big 'X'. :nono:

Erik, thank you. I'm glad someone said this finally.

It is only a matter of time before digital surpases film in every way, 2 years, 5 years, who knows. It happened in still photography a few years ago and cinematography will follow suit. BTW my R1-MX is" fully functional".

I don't know what it is to be "a" RedUser, but for me "the" RedUser has got to be Sanjin Jucik - that guy pops up everywhere with his bizarre more-or-less English and long, colourful quotations.

I agree..i always love reading Sanjin`s posts..Red through and through..

Thanks Sanjin!

I completely agree Mark. Look at how many feature productions are now digital. However, I think in five years film will still be used in major features. I just don't see some of the old directors/dp's switching; but it won't be commonplace and once they're all gone is when I think you really will be able to say film is dead.
