  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Who has the nerves to do this with Epic or Scarlet?

how are you going to recover your $7K camera before someone else does???

EDIT: By the way, that little GoPro camera is 4K, and is fantastic.

Here is something to try with your Epic... http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=94e_1351776717

If that on that video happens to me, that will be the saddest day of my entire life!.

By the way, someone did this too, two days ago...

I think a scarlet could kill someone if the parashot does not work. I gopro as well.

Precisely same kind of issues came into my mind as well. I guess it is neither that pleasant to hit such an object with an airplane.

I read that, they are trying to build a space elevator, and according to many, is not science fiction anymore. But if you are going to suspend a huge long flexible ladder that is attached to a helium balloon all the way to the edge of outer space, how are you going to deal with airplanes and other moving objects in the sky, not counting strong winds and hurricanes.. Just wonder..

Just some safety thoughts for our fellow redusers who might be contemplating doing something similar...

Keep in mind that Felix and the team had some serious FAA pre-clearance assistance with their effort. As many reduser model/sUAV/multi-copter/RC pilots know, we are getting stripped of some previous flight freedoms with new US Congressional legislation.

These days, anything over 400ft and folks in dark suits start showing up at your door if there is a safety incident that occurs...

1) Not outer edge of space on a balloon, into geo synchronous orbit wayyyyyyy out into space. Well beyond the International Space Station.
2) Airplanes: tell them not to fly near it on all of the charts.
3) Strong winds wouldn't exert very much force on such a small object. The weight of the line itself would be substantially greater than the force imparted from wind. Jetstreams have 100+mph winds. And they would be a day-in-out kind of problem by comparison.

scarlet/epic payloads are too high for easy clearance and you'd need a pretty huge balloon and an even bigger chute and an even bigger wallet.
