  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Who has a high-quality 4K render/movie they'd be willing to share?

Hello folks,

My company is building a large auditorium for our on-site meetings (13k seats) and part of that auditorium will be a 4k (likely quad-HD) LED wall (about 68 x 40 feet -- don't know the exact dimensions now, but should be 16x10 or 16x9 ratio). To help test out/demo the screens, we are wondering if any of the amazing artists here on reduser have 4k renders of their work they'd be willing to let us use to show the executives the screen output? It basically needs to be SFW (safe for work) and really show off the quality of a big bright high-res screen. It'd kind of be a shame to only show blu-ray on such a great screen :-).

Thanks!

13,000 seats? That screen ain't gonna be big enough. At the local Pacific Theaters Winnetka 4K screen, I believe they're using an 80' screen for an audience of about 1500.

The Hollywood Bowl seats about 17,000, and the stage is the size of a postage stamp if you're in the back row; I think it's about 150' across. The screen at Radio City Music Hall in NYC is about 65', and they "only" seat 6000. This will be a very, very, very expensive screen (if you don't know this already). You may well want to consider stacked front projection instead of LED, just because of heat, size, cost, and weight issues.

I have to double check with the team what the actual size is, I recall hearing 80' but a height in the 30s, which didn't seem like the right aspect ratio :-)

Unfortunately, it would likely have been quadrant projection (then stacked) to get enough brightness for the screen size (adding credence to the 80' number) I'll get the real size once I get ahold of the person in charge of display around here (I'm on the acquisition end).

Hey Brian,

You can use our stuff if you want.
Take a look at http://vimeo.com/36118842

If you like it, i'll send you the files ;)

Cheers,

Kevin

How, I really like it! Please send our way - may not be appropriate for the executives, but it will give all us tech guys something awesome to watch while making sure the screen it operating correctly!

So, the number right now is 40' x 68' - approximate. It comes down to the manufacturer what the exact width will be (we'd like it to be QUADHD).
