Hi,

I use Zeiss ZF (Nikon mount) lenses, and i'd like to use a Tokina 11-16mm.

Who is able to modify a Nikon mount Tokina 11-16 and fit a iris ring ?

Thanks!

Antoine

I would contact Matthew Duclos. He's doing a superb job with converting the Tokina 11-16 to a PL mount with smooth iris ring. He may have a solution that would work on the Nikon mount model.

Hi Jeff!

I did contact Matthew, but he doesn't modify Nikon mount version for now.

Thanks

Antoine

I prefer using a ring.

thanks

Very interesting Jacek,

Do you think i could see my iris marks on the Zeiss ZF lenses ?

The lenses seems to sit deep in the mount.

Yes that was the initial feedback and I provided plenty of clearance in the production version. Even for the "fat back" lenses like the 85mm there is room to access the lens iris ring. There is optional iris gear for the prolock to remotely control iris via motor on cranes, underwater housings, etc.
The beauty of my system is that it has all built into the camera mount- the lenses are bare stock with no modifications required. You can go to camera store, pic up a G lens like the glorious 14-24 and start shooting righ away...
I case you need to return it for warranty repair there is no issues- the lens is as it left the factory...

The Optitek is a great system, not only do you gain an iris ring, more importantly it uses a positive locking mechanism ( like a vistavision cameras Nikon mount ) that lets you hold the lens absolutely steady, versus a stills style mount that depends on leaf springs.

No Brainer if you use Nikon glass.

Red approval

Red approval

Jacek,
has red approved the mount yet? Seems so simple and all i saw was just disconnecting the i-pin which does not take a janitor or rocket scientist to do. Not that i am concerned now that my camera is over a year old.
I will send a production mount to Red for approval as soon as possible.
I just don't want to send them "half baked" mount and don't want to hinder delivery to my customers by the approval process. I don't see a problem- but Red has the final decision powers.

agreed! get them made. I see no reason why it should cause any problems, it took only a few minutes to remove the pl and add your mount when i was shown recently by Ken. Very simple, easy solution.
