Are you talking about monitoring live audio? If so, do you have microphone connected to both L + R?

if your microphone is mono (which is high likely for shotgun mic's) your output will also be mono - you'll ned an adapter cable to split (or double?) the mono signal to a stereo signal or use an external recorder for better routing options...
(I'm not an expert hough -> a colleague of mine made me a Y-cable where I can output a mono channel on both earphones after I explained him the "problem").

i am using zoom h4n and connecting it with ep to ep cable through one mic in of scarlet, but i am getting two tracks of audio in data....while listening it live i can hear only through one speaker of my consumer sony headphone.
