Hello guys,
in the moment i try to order a red epic-m for the university digital equipment pool. since the epic is not much more than a cubus with a lens, i wonder if i buy parts like the top handle or rails that fit to it. the parts from red a very expensive and i´m not sure which ones i really need. does anybody of you have experience and can tell me what parts you use to have a good handle with the camera. also it should not get to heavy. we decided to buy an epic instead of an alexa and don´t want the epic to become as heavy as the arri is. the light weight was one reason for the epic...

thanks ben

Thats a huge question, it all depends on how you are going to use it.

For a studio rig, matt box, FF etc. with rails you'll want:

1. the quick release platform pack.
2. top handle and swat rail
these are minimum, it all depends on what you already have.

for light weight run and gun shooting:

1. the side handle
2. secondary handle like the outrigger.

Of course you always need RedMag SSDs, extra batteries, and I like to have a spare LCD/EVF cable, actually I like to have spare lots of things but that's another story.

Hope this helps a little.
