Hi all,

Which lightweight v-mount battery option would you recommend?

- Global Media Pro 95wh = 710g, 150x102x42mm. Priced at £703.20 for 4
- Swit S-8082S 95wh = 760g, 134x85x52mm. Priced at £672 for 4
- IDX ENDURA-HL9s 88wh = 720g, 142x85x50. Priced at £696 for 4

Powering just the 5" touch is it possible to say that these batteries would last 1 hour, or more?

This will be used to try and get handheld gimbal weight as light as possible.

Thanks!

The same energy density.

Minuscule charger.

Can be doubled (or more) up to for form one huge battery.

Can be flown anywhere.

Can 'speak' to Red Brain for correct percentage available in the display.

Can have additional '+1' plate to output other formats.

PL96T / PL96e.

Downside - does not have the Highest single battery current draw.

+1 PAGS TOTALLY ROCK (I can't believe I'm so enthusiastic about batteries, must get out more, but I do love them)

Have you thought about using redvolts on the gimbal? That's what we do, we warm the camera using ac power or a v lock with the Red belt clip v-lock. We also just use a lightweight HDMI monitor, and navigate using the side handle. You can get super thin HDMI cables.

Phi Adrian,

I've been using red volts but I don't get enough time per battery use. Perhaps maybe because my red volts are getting a bit old now.
I currently have removed side handle now and have gone for longer arms on my ronin with xenons, bright tangerine atom and GMP 160wh batteries. I just wanted to save a bit of weight really.

PAGS are expensive for this setup.
Blueshape although thin, are actually heavy and very tall.

Does anyone have any 95wh batteries and able to chime in on runtime?

Hi Phil

Yes the Pags aren't cheap but they are very good value, you can come over and try one on your set up if you like.

Just PM me if that might help you.

Phil, both the IDX E-7S and CUE-D75 will run Epic Dragon in max res at max speed for just over an hour. I have tested this extensively with the specific application for gimbal work...

Thanks Peter!
Do you use any of the travel chargers for them?
Similar to the ones that GMP make for their now batteries?

Also, WOW, those E-7s batteries are super light! Coming in at 521g.

Which one would you recommend between the E-7s and CUE-D75?

What would be the running time on Dragon with those ones?

i never tested for stand by, but powering Epic and 5" touch in constant recording i am getting 35 min from 7S and 45-50 min from D75, plus D75 has dtap in case you need it; my 7S is around 50 cycles older though;
Powering just 5" touch i'd guess either will last over an hour, 7S is bit lighter snd smaller.

Thanks for these infos.
I'd like to know the running time for the PAG, it should be more than that, shouldn't it?

I have a problem with a Pag battery that won't charge. Send tons of mail to them and never got any answer...
Not a great customer experience...

Pat

Hi Pat

I'd suggest phoning Pag directly, there's a chance your mail is going to junk.

I've found the customer service to be excellent, I dropped 2x connected batteries on a recent shoot (they still worked fine).

A small bit of plastic broke where the batteries join together, Pag replaced this free of charge whilst I waited.

Thanks Peter!

I have two of the VL-PVC1 chargers (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/820184-REG/IDX_VL_PV_C1_Single_Channel_V_plate_Charger.html) in addition to the 4-position one, as they can be used to charge the batteries in my car, unlike the big chargers. I also keep them with the camera in my carry-on just in case my check-in bag goes MIA with the big charger. They are so small that many of my AC's mistake them for an on-camera V-plate...

The E7S is smaller and lighter then the CUE-D75 - this matters for remote aerial work where every gram counts. I also feel like the CUE-D75 is designed to replace the E-7S, so not sure how much longer are they going to be available. So I have stocked up (8 units) on the E-7S and keeping them purely for aerial work. Then I got bunch of the CUE-D75's for the Ronin that I use on daily basis. With the 4-position charger I get through most of my days with just 4 batteries, but bring all 8 when I am not sure if I can keep charging through the day...
