Sorry, 100% newbie...

was wondering: what do I need to process my Red footage???

Im thinking two different scenarios:

1) I film 2k/4k with RedOne and I would need to backup to another HD (Raid maybe)

2) I film 2k/4k and need to make delivery to a client (who doenst have Final cut system)

Thanks in advance!!

Redcine will work on either mac or pc, but it needs to be an intel-based mac (all the new macs are intel-based).
You can convert the footage in Redcine to make delivery to client in any format they want. Redcine comes with the purchase of the camera.

I would recommend a new MacBook Pro with backup RAID1 solution.

It would be nice if we knew that a macbook pro would be fine, but we don't really know yet. At NAB they were using 8 core macs for the demos and things looked great. I don't know if they were using 8 cores because they can or because it was necessary. If you wait a week or so, people will be able to tell you how performance is on a variety of machines.

I was assuming he meant for on-set use. Using the laptop to backup footage to a portable RAID and transcoding in Redcine if necessary. 8 core macs are great, but it would be a hassle to bring one to a set.

Hey, thanks for answer!!

so, maybe 2 differrent kind of equipment...

for on-set reviewing of shooting and backup (both CF and REDrive) a mcbook pro would be enough (2-core)....what about PC? how powerful should it be for those tasks???

for couloring and/or edditing, cuad-core?? hopefully not 8-core!!! couple of good monitors...
