Since updating to Build 20 several days before taking delivery of a Birger mount, I had never been able to get the i/DATA interface and Canon lens' to "talk" to my RED ONE. This morning, however, I read that the newest build, #20, is not supporting the Birger or Canon s4 interface.

Have any of the earlier builds EVER supported Birger or Cooke S4i lens'? My understanding that I would be able to monitor critical lens data and info was one of the selling points that sold me on the Birger.

Joe,

We are running build 17 with a Birger mount and Canon lenses and consistently have lens data. Hope this helps.

We are using build 20.0.2 with the /i Birger interface active. Trick is to go into the BEI software and tell it to use build 18 3.6.4 protocols via BlueTooth to the mount.

A bit spotty with my 17-55 f2.8 lens, as it doesn't correctly pass the zoom data when I alter focal length, but T stop and focus distance are fine.

Thanks Paul!

RED ONE Build 20.0.0 beta, Birger lens library 20a, 3rd party protocol support for "18.3.6.4" and Impero v1.8. I have lens data and the Impero works fine.

I posted in the wrong Birger thread!

Sorry!

Hi Andy,

The "Configure Device" setting is in the "BEI Device Interface" menu (upper left of desktop next to the Apple logo.) It's only accessible when the BEI interface application is active and has detected the mount.

I'm just finishing a couple of months in ND filming waterfowl from a floating blind. Working in chest waders. Using the Birger with the Impero FF knob, placed where convenient, sure beats struggling to reach way out to the focus knob near the far end of the 150-600mm canon or 500mm nikon w/ ext. I only have the EF 300 F4 (w/1.4 ext) so far, but it's been great for wider shots, and times when I can work in close. The hardwired Impero is much better than having to mess with AAA battery reloads every few hours while standing in the cold water.

All the Best,

Michael

Thanks Michael - I found it! Great grabs, too. Let me know if you try any other long lenses. Hey, congrats by the way...
