Hey Everybody,
I have just finished shooting my first RED project and I am now looking for a facility to post it (offline / online / color / sound)

I have been lurking here for awhile and it seemed to me that the best place to go would be Plaster City... here is where the rumors come in!! I have heard that they recently lost some key personal??? is this true? and if so where should I take my project? I have spent alot of time and money and I am very passionate about it and I want to make sure it gets the attention it deserves.

thoughts?

thanks

"lost some key personnel??? WTF does that really mean? :) Plaster City turns out some great looking stuff. Perhaps you should go meet with them and feel them out for yourself? There's others like Offhollywood too.

I am in Los Angeles. And I have called Plastercity and was told that Michael Cioni is no longer with the company, I have met Mr. Cioni at a few events and I was pretty sold on the company, however now I am open to some other options if this is the case.

thanks

Michael Cioni is no longer with the company?
Can someone confirm this or put an end to this idea because from what i understand he owns the place.

I have no idea about the true facts here, but with what I've seen over the last few years, I wouldn't be all that surprised if he was working with RED now.
Again, total conjecture. Grain of salt and all that.
Peace,

-Harry

It is absolutely true, Michael is no longer with Plaster City, and we wish him the best of luck!

Hey, all,

I've worked closely with Michael for going on six years now, and I can confirm that he has left PlasterCITY to pursue other opportunities. While I obviously can't go into detail (although I'm sure that won't stop the postings asking more questions) I can say that it's been a couple weeks now, and that we not only wish him well, but are still in regular communication with him. THAT being said, I want to echo another posting which mentions the fact that Michael did not operate alone--there are a lot of talented people here, and there will continue to be.

Kray, I would encourage you to give me a call. I've not only been the DI supervisor on dozens of Red jobs, but I've produced several of my own projects with the camera, and know the workflow inside and out.

PlasterCITY has a pretty amazing track record of making Red images look better than anyone else in town, and that talent is still here. If any one has any questions, or would like to come by the facility and take a peek at what we do, I'd love to talk to you.

Be well, everyone.
Best,
Paul

Howzabouta new thread listing RED POST FACILITIES? I know Plaster City is great. But there are several others as well. I know this is a touchy subject to some, but transparency benefits everyone. I had a great experience at I/O Film. Kappa Studios in Burbank hosts our LA Red User events and their work looks great too. Test drive all of them.

Good point. After reading this thread, one could walk away with the impression, that all of a sudden the ability to do RED finish in LA is lost forever. Competition is good and healthy for everyone and it would be great, if everyone would use this time to do a little research on RED post. You'd be surprised what's and who's available. Scott Sevick at SSI. I worked with him at Post Logic and he's top notch for short form work. For longer form try Post Logic. They are still excellent, even after the purchase. Hollywood Intermediate another longer form place. Heck, I can't think of anyone, that doesn't do RED. It's not rocket science... anymore:)
And don't forget smaller guys. You will get much more personable service and it will definitely be easier on the wallet. Do your own due diligence and don't rely on just one advice...

Hollywood-DI does RED ....

Hollywood-DI does RED ....

Agree totally, Jake.

Getting a professionally finished and great looking image from the RED ONE camera is no longer rocket science .... we've been doing it for two and half years now and it works really well every time.

We recently finished a SONY feature, 'Angel of Death' which was shot on RED and got rave reviews on crackle.com .... we just showed another feature shot by an ASC DP, Kees Van Oostrum, to the Chairman of the ASC Technical Committee, Curtis Clark, and he was blown away by how 'filmic' the movie looked.

We had Rodney Charters (DP of 24) in a couple of weeks ago with a TV pilot he just shot on RED .... stunning footage ... he was amazed at the detail we could extract from the 4k .r3d files.

The RED ONE is now a mainstream digital acquisition device ... in the hands of a talented DP and skilled colorist it will deliver great looking images - every time.

If you want to read the stories behind 'Angel of Death' and 'Christina' check our our News page:

For those that want to know more amount how easy the RED workflow is and how fantastic the final images look, check out our website at:

Or give us a call on 323 850 3550 and come in and see us for a demo.

Cheers,
Neil

Actually Neil, the company I'd mentioned was Hollywood Intermediate in Burbank, but, hey, the more choices the merrier:)
