Hi!

I've been tryíng to find an updated delivery schedule but have failed so far.
Is it somewhere on the red.com site or is it hidden in a message on reduser?

I would appreciate any help!

And yes, I know...it's just preliminary but I'm curious anyway!

/Marcus

I also beleive that they have announced a slight delay for 51-100.

just schedule everything around...Spring...

lol

Spring to Summer seems to be the consensus

Does anyone know what the highest given reservation number is and when that person got it? Was it just after NAB they stopped giving out reservation numbers?

That seems to be the issue - uless you were part of the first 1500 you really have no idea when your camera will be delivered...or am I missing something??

But I love that they are working so hard to get it right!

There have been some figures thrown around by Jim and the RED team, I don´t recall exactly, but I beleive that shortly after NAB this year, it reached 2000... it gives you some idea, also at IBC I beleive I heard (don´t quote me on it) that if you signed up now, you will get your camera sometime spring 2008.

I got a second cam ordered few weeks ago and have no idea when it'll ship.
I guess we have no other choice but to respect the fact that it'll come when it'll come; oddly enough I am fine with that.

Cheers

I ordered my camera yesterday, and they have suggested May/June for delivery. They said they stopped giving serial numbers after February so I only have an order number. No way to know how many thousand cameras have been sold far as I can tell.

2 week delay... updated Delivery schedule - Oct 10th now oct 30th... and everything else... (all other dates are now End of the Month instead of the 10th)

"I am now changed the schedule. Starting from October, every date that was the 10th has now become "by the end of the month". We need this extra time to get several things right. I do not want to disappoint anyone, but I would rather delay shipping than to push cameras out the door when we can improve them. We need the time." - Jim

Whats your point?
If it's what I think it is then you really don't have any understanding for whats being accomplished here.

The point is to change all the dates on the earlier list from the 10th like OCT 10TH to the end of the month like OCT 30TH. Many people have not heard about this new delay. That is the point. I would add, I would expect further delays, as more feedback, changes, supplier issues, and new tech pop up.

And yes, with #217, I understood what was going on here way before the other 2000+ orders after me... in fact, I actually waited 2 days so I wasn't in the first 200 units sold. ;-) I was anticipating beta testers and issues.

:poster_oops: Sorry, I thought you were attempting to hammer RED for the latest schedule change.

Looks like you made a wise choice in waiting to order until #217. I hope you get it soon! Alot of things should be worked out by then.

Hi,

The official line as we have it at the moment is this then (Changes can occur):

Serial numbers 1-50 Delivered
Serial numbers 51-100 September 28th (50 units)
Serial numbers 101-300 October 30th (200 units)
Serial numbers 301- 700 November 30th (400 units)
Serial numbers 701- 1200 December 30th (500 units)
Serial numbers 1201- 1700 January 30th (500 units)
Serial numbers 1701- 2200 February 30th (500 units)
Serial numbers 2201- 2700 March 30th (500 units)
Serial numbers 2701- 3400 April 30th (700 units)
Serial numbers 3401- 4100 May 30th (700 units)

I believe the total ordered to date is around the 2500 mark.

If you want to be really picky, 1-51 have been delivered (because the company who bought #50 also bought #51). But other than that, your revised schedule looks very good. :-)

Hopefully they'll be able to stick as close to that as possible, but I'm still in the camp that I'd rather have a quality product than one which is rushed out the door. Seems like at least one of the new production units has been having quite a few problems (there were reports of the camera locking up and even losing footage in another thread), and unfortunately we don't know how isolated the problems are. Are they going to be able to individually hand-check 200 cameras next month (and up to 400 in November)? Jim even mentioned something recently about "all features being enabled" by October, but I can't even fathom how that's possible. As far as I'm aware, the RED-DRIVEs aren't even available yet and the EVFs are currently completely inactive.

I think anyone with a reservation should just take a deep breath and know that the cameras are coming, but there's no magic date and one can't be expected given the circumstances. The upshot is that the footage looks un-flippin-believable!

I also would rather have a finished quality product, and wait a bit more for it.

On what I have heard so far, there is things that need to be fixed on the first 50 camera (or 51:-), and not only software update.

RED has proved it is not vaporeware, and that they are giving what has been promised in term of image quality. Good, but don't rush now, we need "free bug" camera and workflow.

Serial numbers 701- 1200 December 30th (500 units)

500 units the day before New Years????? I was wondering how 500 units was going to go out on the 10th being so close to the winter holidays. This seems like a much more difficult date to set as a goal.
