  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Where in line are we and how manmy ordered?

Go to your account and give you sales order number.

0050988
My order was placed at 8:25 pacific time. If somebody that had an order go through right before 8:25 and on right after 8:25 have an SO number slightly before and slightly after mine, we can probably figure that the numbers are indeed sequencial. Then we just find somebody who has one of the earliest order numbers. Since almost all orders placed within this time are Scarlet orders. Could probably get a pretty decent idea of the total numbers sold.

And I looked up some old orders placed within a couple of days of each other and they are around 150 numbers apart, so I don't think SO numbers are random at all.

Not sure if the last 4 numbers thing works. I ordered about 10 hours after the shop went up, and my last 4 digits are: 0295

Can't be right considering many posted this before me and I seem to have a lower number. Unless I got it wrong?

Booo! Most of the LA people probably just happen to live in LA. They got to see the event live not through twitter, touch the camera and priority shipping? ;) Some of us battled that server for hours haha!

I'm just glad they were there to relay the details to us. I don't mind waiting in line behind them ;)

One thing to keep in mind is that when you get your camera will depend on if you went with the Canon mount or the PL mount.

Do we know how many scarlets there will be in the first 'batch'? I assume the first ones will go to those who signed up at the event, followed by those of us online? Has anyone been contacted by RED yet to 'complete the order' or whatever?

SO orders look to be the real number. 8:17pm PST

#0942. Eeek! Probably actually higher once all of the Bomb Squad phone orders get priority. Probably won't see my Scarlet in 2011 unless they can crank out 300 per week. :(

Fingers crossed that they started at like 0700 :D

EDIT: Hmmm, although maybe not, since 8:25pm went through as #0988 above. Maybe it's by when the order started working through the system and all of the credit card entering time etc didn't count which means our orders might have started around 7:15 or so.

I assume your full SO number if 0050942? I can totally buy that given the slow speed at which the orders were able to make it through, that in that 8 minute block of time only 46 more orders were placed.

It was like 00.30 PST when I ordered and I got 0844, so it doesn't seem to be working that way.

Some people may have ordered the Ti mount or PL mount which would bring down the numbers in line by at least a few. But how many can they realisticly produce a day? I have no idea? Plus lots of people still waiting for their Epic-X's. It would be nice to have it for Christmas, but I guess the longer I wait the more time I have to save up more money for extra stuff.

As much as Id like to believe its the case, seeing as im just shy of #100.

Im betting its not.

I would imagine whatever the case, some folks will be waiting for DSMC side handles and so on for some time.

At least until the EPIC rollout is closer to completion.

Based on my sales order number and the lowest one posted here (50988), if every order in front of me averages one scarlet, I'll be scarlet owner number 1,400 or so. Wonder how long it will take to roll out that many... Yikes!

0227 for an order on saturday....I guess the numbers mean zilch.

Post your sales order number and order time. The SO numbers are not random! They are sequential. The original order numbers that came in emails may very well have some randomness, the SO though isn't.

Oh you're completely right I was thinking 988 was lower than 942. Brain melt. Yeah SO orders seem to be sequential. Although we don't know what # they started on that night or how many of those were separate accessory orders, I assume not many RED customers were bothering to make unrelated Epic orders during the crunch. :D

We just need someone with a 7:15pm PST order SO number to see what the starting point was (ignoring phone orders).

Here is what I charted up, unfortunately we have nobody before me. (or maybe fortunately haha):

If orders were going through at a steady pace before the posted SO numbers on this thread then they started at 230 at 7pm. Although If I remember correctly the website was completely unavailable until about 7:10 So at 9 orders per minute that means between about 230 and 320 as "order 0s". And seeing as there were 300 people at the event and probably a number of people ordered more than one... we have no clue what place in line we are. :D

SO seems to make sense looking back over my order history.

Heres three random orders for Frame of Reference:

NOV1 #0050651
NOV3: #0051079
NOV6: #0052674

To me that suggests that there were a max of 428 online orders before mine (discounting any phone orders, of which Im sure there were many) and perhaps a total max number of Cameras sold around 2000.

Also bear in mind that apparently PL orders will go out before the Al Canon mount ones, so Im hoping that my number could be <300.

Knowing my luck though.......

Whoa! So maybe my 1.25 hours locked in Server Limbo means I'm still in the first 300 orders. And if the PL and Ti orders go out first I could be in the first 200 for Al Canon mounts. But there is still the wildcard of people ordering quantities > 1. 2,000 orders could translate into 2k cameras or pretty easily 3k-4k if people ordered a pair. And of course the phone orders. :P
