Now I know this sound like I am asking where my dog spot went after he "caught" that car or where babies come from but I have been curious about this.

There are stages in the Epic release where you can "trade in" your red one and a spot of cash then get a brand new epic shipped to you in return. My question is, what is Red going to do with this massive stockpile of old technology?

Send to museums of the recently outdated technology like HD DVD players?

Open up a preowned Red One business (seems like that would take a cut out of the Scarlett S35 if the price came down enough and if it didn't come down to an absurdly low price no one would take them over a Scarlett s35)?

Raid them for parts in a Frankenstein massacre?

Donate to Schools around the country?

I would hope they'd lease them to film programs in state schools (including JC's) for a small fee say $1/month (as to prevent the schools from selling them).

You know where Sam went in Transformers 2 for a few minutes when he died?

No.

I felt ripped of having bought Transformers 1 on blu-ray, where can I get those two hours back?

But I am sure RED can weld those camera bodies into a nice sculpture at the entrance of either their studio in Hollywood or at their place in Las Vegas, I am sure they will make it wicked!

My bet is that Red will re-sell them, but only after the new models are fully entrenched. That way enough time will have passed and the earlies will have had ample opportunity to move on. By offering the trade in and holding on to them a while he helps stabilize their value a bit.

I’m not sure that old technology is the right choice of words the tech in those machines . I believe they are still quite contemporary.
I’d imagine that those trade in’s would be refurbished/upgraded and the released back into the wild both literally and figuratively. It would be great if those bodies could be redesigned to withstand more extreme temp for instance etc which would make it a more viable piece of equipment for these types of conditions .. I guess what I’m trying to say is that they could be reconfigured to shoot for a more unorthodox scenario, more robust ,less prone to dust etc...like the tank of the RED cam family .Not to say Ep/Sc aren’t versatile. Just a thought .

I suspect the majority will be crushed, so they have zero value for tax purposes.
