There are more women around here than I think you guys realize... However, if this thread is any indication, there's good reason they don't advertise their presence.

If 100,000 years of history is any indication, it's the hard-wired need for male conquest that drives economies, technology and discovery . . . for better or for worse.
Mars / Venus is a reality - REDuser demographics is one of many social reflections of this fact
actually, real history does not bear that out....for example, everyone thinks that Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin - he actually was the patent holder because the female who actually invented some of the crux parts of it was not allowed to apply for or hold a patent, according to nineteenth-century patent law....there are thousands of examples from the 19th-century of female inventors who had no property ownership rights. shocking, I know....same goes for African American inventors - did you know that the multiplexing telegraph had already been invented by a black guy named Granville Woods who patented it in the 1880s...Edison basically stole hunks of the design and then sued Woods. classic!
these kinds of historical assumptions don't really hold up to scrutiny, I hate to say it, Josh. it's just convenient thinking but it has no rigor behind it.
if REDuser demographics reflect anything, it is that, throughout the history of technology and discovery, it is often the biggest mouth who wins....it has little to do with who can champion innovation.
