  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

When will the details be known?

Okay, I can be patient (no, really) so I'm not asking for details now, but just trying to know *when* we will know the details. What details?

When is an actual ship date? (most projects announce a ship date several months before the day of. I'd hate to get an email with subject "Your Reserve is Ready!" without a several month warning)

Jim has stated that April-May'ish is his *goal*. So...that's only a few months away.

Other details I keep checking this site 5 times a day for...

-Pricing for accessories
-Final specs on Red

I've been a professional engineer for about 5 years now and I know that once you get within a few months of shipping you can be very sure about these sorts of details.

Just to be clear, I am not asking for these details now (because I know I'd get a terse "stay tuned, stop being impatient" response) but I am simply asking *when* I will know. NAB? I'd hate to wait until then to even know this stuff. Is there some other magical date?

Please don't hate me for asking...I just feel like a 31 year old virgin who keeps expecting his gorgeous east euro mail order bride to arrive any day :-D

You're a 31 year old virgin.

DUDE THATS GOTTA SUCK

You should take some of that money you saved up for you're RED and get yourself some hookers.

No, I'm married to a local actress and she just gave birth to my son....but imagining being 31 with nothing to show but knowing that any day a super model of a woman is going to come and be my wife is the closest analogy I could think of about waiting for Red :-) (okay, I'm such a nerd)

Shawn the Details will be soon.I'm guessing that you will get the Info you need when NAB 2007 Comes around i think that might be a target date for the Release date information and Details.: ) P.S. Thanks Finner for putting it all in perspective.

be quiet shawn or you'll be burned.. but not at the hands of this fanboy..

Or, if you're like me, you've had an XL1 and it's like a hungarian weightlifter arriving in the mail, except you don't realize it's ugly until you start hanging out. It looked so good on the website.

NAB would be a long time to wait. Because that'd mean we wouldn't know how much things cost, etc. until a few weeks before our number was up!

The following info will be release in March...
1. What comes in the RED ONE box
2. Names, part numbers and prices of all accessories

This, of course, is subject to change at any time... :-)

Jim

Just a piece of advice here but for your own good I wouldn't tell your wife about all the hookers. I don't think it would turn out well for you.

you are getting the details...

you are getting the details...

right here.

most other companies will announce and ship (soon afterwards) their new cams at nab. red has been allowing us this forum (and replying often to it) for discussion and announcements for the past year.

now try going onto the panasonic, jvc, panavision, sony forums for day-to-day development of new projects and tell me what you see. nothing.

red is only announcing products/pricing when they know it's safe to announce such things but that doesn't mean they're playing it safe (status quo) like other big cam makers out there.

that is one of the problems of having #27 = you are going to have very little notice of ship date and accessory prices to know how much you need to pony up $$ ... those #400 and up will have more time ... and of course 1000 and up can sit back and ask you question after you receive #27 and wish they had that problem ...

As ready as I am to get my RED One, I'm almost glad I passed on the first round of reservations. I'll have plenty of time to do just that... ask questions. Suddenly the prospect of being #1200 or whatever it is doesn't seem so bad. Besides, I know a #500-ish reservation holder and plan to spend lots of time studying his when he gets it.

Jeff,

And you already know my both RED ONE #111 & #647 will be available for you since they can be where you are or...the opposite then. It would be a pleasure! ;)

Cheers :)
Emanuel
