  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

When will Red address the Redvolt system issues?

RED is apparently fully aware of the CHARGING ISSUE. I get same random green/red blinking problems here. Two Quad chargers are finicky. Four revolts and 4 Xl's never reach 100% even when new. Sadly unreliable. But great form factor. I sincerely hope they can fix this - fingers crossed for Weapon!
 
Jarred is aware of the issue and this thread, thanks to the random Facebook post. He promised a fix, for which I'm thankful.

My Red BS rep kindly swapped my Quad charger yesterday for a brand new one (#3) with no questions asked.
Out of the box though, the very first XL I put on it started blinking red/green.
With some tweaking it charged all batteries successfully but it's still not reliable.

Let's hope for a quick fix. Cheers!

Kudos for RED meeting you half way. Although a more permanent fix would salve the situation.
 
Have been having issues with this too. The REDVOLT XLs are great but a pain to charge...
 
My issue is that the batteries fail to charge to 100% and they aren't that old not have they been used extensively. I would love to hear about potential remedies for that.

I've been actually pretty happy with Redvolt XLs, there's no battery that will hold as much power in such a small and light package. The 91WH Dionics are heavier.
If you value light camera builds for documentary work and such, it's a great little package.

The biggest problem is the charging reliability.
The secondary problem is never displaying full charge, this could also be a batt/cam communication problem because Redvolt XL appear to power the camera for as long as you would expect a 89WH battery to do even though it's never displaying more than 80 something percent fully charged.

It's interesting that the Quad charger is made in Japan and batteries are made in China, maybe this is the reason they don't play well together.
