  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

When Selling a Scarlet Package...

I would be open about it and sell it both ways.

I mean if you are desperate of course.

I was thinking that if I were to sell I'd probably group the brain, SSD and lens mount together then sell all my other accessories separate.

I'd go for brain/SSD/lens mount as one sale and then accessories listed separately (with asking price), that's what a lot of sellers do. Maybe add a version that's a bundle with the price you'd take for it all.

Thanks. Going to post tomorrow

A full bundle is less hassle for you, but will usually sell for somewhat less than separating it out.

I personally bought a used one on RU, but I didn't want the whole bundle. I wanted to use v mounts instead of volts, wanted a Nikkor mount instead, was a total PIA for the guy. Be warned there is a lot of picky budget buyers that will want things you don't have over parts you do have...

This is actually a common theme amongst many sellers in many different industries. Generally, selling things individually will yield a higher return that selling it as a package. As a package the buyer will expect a bulk discount, and if your time is worth anything to you, you may have to consider that money well spent. In RED land sometimes its not so easy to make the distinction because some of the accessories can be difficult to source quickly, and so the buyer may be willing to pay a premium for a complete set that's ready to shoot out of the box. However, I didn't read in your post of any special accessories that aren't readily available. And as others have pointed out, alot of folks in this category are budget-buyers, so they're hunting for the lowest bid so you want to make your price attractive to them by offering them the items separately. I would imagine that a serious buyer would approach you at that point and offer you a lump sum for a complete package if they were really interested in it.
