I'm quite confused on this, I see articles announcing that 'it's shipping!' but can only find options to preorder with no dates attached.

Can someone clarify, is it not officially released yet?

Talk to your Bomb Rep . . . wait . . . what?!?

Much like the Raven etc, it has been officially released but I don't think they're at a supply level to just walk into a shop and buy one.

Check bmcuser.com

CVP has it on 2weeks + delivery. I always call them before purchase but they always seem to be on delivery target.

And they thought I was bold!

Aaron, it has bren having problems so been massively held up. Go to the black magic forum at their site and ask there. They usually are pretty supportive, or whinging (didn't I mention it had problems).

I don't think the red image is perfect but I prefer it, just because of the way it handles contrast. The Red has been shown to have a color biase, and don't know if Ursa mini 4,6k does or not.

So, just saying be careful and examine your options

Have a good day.

Ive been fortunate to see a Red raven and Ursa Mini side by side. The Raven has no color problems and the colors actually looks more organic and richer than the BMD mini.
This is my personal opinion and the Opinion of a 8 year experienced colorist sitting next to me. They have different looks though.

The Ursa 4.6k has been noted to sometimes tend towards magenta, and seems to lack any form of an OLPF like the rest of their cameras. But... for the price, 15 Stops Of Dynamic Range (The only digital camera to surpass the Alexa's DR at this point if those stops are usable, and BMD has been good about accurately stating the DR on their cameras) and solid internal recording options make for a killer look at a killer deal! What problems has it been dealing with? I've heard of some Fixed Pattern Noise occasionally at ISO 1600, but other than that nothing else.

Blackmagic cameras (and almost everything else they touch) are a bad joke.

Anyone who speaks highly of them are either getting cherry picked samples or getting paid.

Go ahead and call them directly and see how they treat you.

Magenta on bits people up in arms about, fix pattern noise. Etc. Altogether it has taken time to sort out, before these issues and seems to be still not complely easily available. If you sell me a camera st that price, and it has such issues, yes I'm not going to be happy. A $100 camera I might be dissapionted and debate wherever to return it, but $5kAU..

Aaron, doesn't the Dragon have at least that many usable stops?

It's funny to see people brush off and scorn the Ursa Mini 4.6k just like the Red One was ridiculed by the 'experts' of the time when it came out. The Red One had all kinds of problems in its beginnings but they were sorted out to become a camera that revolutionized the industry, and I should know that, I received mine at the end of 2007. Almost ten years later there is a new kid in town with features and quality that rival the best cameras today and people either feel threatened by it and/or want to justify their investment in their favorite ecosystem by scoffing other cameras.

If this image is a bad joke, then I must have a bad sense of humor.

I think the issue is...the RED ONE was RED's first camera. That's why it was called the RED "ONE".

The Ursa Mini 4.6K is Blackmagic's FOURTH or FIFTH camera, and follows a trend of lackluster tech.

At this point, it begs the question if they are capable of truly making an industry standard camera....
