REDcode being Open Source.
Nigel,
A tool that can do all the great things that your application can do combined with the visual reference features (in terms of cropping) of Hans' Clipfinder. Additions that would be nice are also a visual reference of burn ins, the ability to save render settings, and full featured raw adjustments from Red Alert.
So in short, if you or anyone could mash up Clipfinder, Monkey Extract and RedAlert! I'd be in heaven. I want to be able to go from Application X to FCP to Application X and back to FCP. without having to open RedAlert or RedCine to piecemeal features and visual references.
If I could code I'd be right there helping you!
Cheers,

Saving render settings we are going to do.
Extra settings from red alert - which ones do you miss? We can add them pretty easily.
Burn ins, we were just trying to keep the UI simple, but better font and placement will be in the next version...
Cropping, interesting - but would that be for entire sequences? Or just to resize single shots?
1)
A progress bar show the time taken and time left, Or just a "XX hrs remaining"
maybe a "Pause" button, with a continue.
2)
Having it being "Bright Clip" enabled. So it can right the DPX's in sequential order and not fragmenting the SAN.
3)
How about a metacheater replacement... Combining BWF/WAV audio files with the R3D's to make a complete QT ready to be edited without synking in FCP/Avid.
4)
You will like this:
A email notifier telling me if anything goes wrong or is finished. maybe a seperate app that can email even if the Monkey crashes.
Or even being able to send a SMS/Text message to my cell!
That way we can confidently leave work and come back if needed.
5)
A "Monkey Farm"! Have the app running on on Mac, but by using the ideling Mac's on the network (all conected to the same SAN via Fiber) to speed up the render. If it's "impossible", one way around it could be that the app does this:
I load 10clips.
I have 4 unused MacPro's on the network.
Monkey handshakes with the other four. Divides the clips up and send 2 clips to each Mac. Not actualy sending the R3D's but all the render-settings and info of where to find them and where to render to.
I take a very short breake, check it, goes home hours earlier thanks to the massive speed impovment.
One big time-eater must be the Avid-work(around)flow...
It would realy be nice with a app that could load all the R3D's and outbut a bunch of MXF's that an be drag'n'doped into a Avid projekt.
In other terms, would it be possible to export a MXF from Monkey (in the future)?
I think people would be willing to pay for it.
assuming that both apple and adobe will be .r3d natively compliant, the wost wanted piece of software would be:
a nice color corrector in the adobe side. i know you can do pretty much everything with ae or premiere or even photoshop, but still, when you get used to discreet color correction interface, or even color, then you really miss them...
or
a nice compositing system with apple. shake is still good, but the other guys have been running, lately... and
i'd really love to have one of those...:innocent:
Avid MetaFuze will soon be able to export Avid MXF from R3D. That will solve the problems on the Windows side of things.
