Hello all, Im planning on buying the Scarlet 2/3 Cinema and already have some very professional Nikon lenses.

So Im wondering what else I would need to shoot music videos and short films with. Im not looking to go all in at the start I just want the absolute necessary items to make it work well. Any advice would be appreciated.
And just to note items for camera only nothing like tripods or and such.

Hi Michael, RED has not announced pricing on the DSMC modules yet but you can look at this page and get an idea of which ones you want: http://www.red.com/epic_scarlet/ At minimum you would need the Nikon mount, REDhandle, LCD and a recording module.

Keep in mind there will be about a x3.56 crop factor when using your FF35 Nikons on the 2/3" Scarlet so you won't really have a way to get wide angle shots. A 12mm FF35 Nikon lens would have the equivalent field of view of a 42mm lens.

So what about the new Zeiss lenses, would those work the best for the Scarlet and cost less than the Red minis?

No one has any idea on how much the RED mini's are gonna be. Should be getting some sort of glance at that stuff around NOV. if all goes well.

Using 35mm lenses with the 2/3rds is not a bad idea, but you won't be able to get wide angles whatsoever so I would recommend looking into some nicer 16mm glass.
