  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What's a good reference audio mic?

Reference mic? Neumann U87, but it's about $3500.

Anything tiny you put on the camera will mostly pick up the fan noise. If you want to fit a shock mount with a shotgun mic (like a Sennheiser 416, very standard for news gathering), that would be one way to go. I think there's been at least 50-60 conversations about tiny mics on the Red camera over the last five years.

Hehe, that would be the day when you se a Neumann U87 mounted on a camera;)

Are you looking for a scratch mic or perhaps a shotgun like above mentioned Sennheiser 416?
By the way have anybody here tried the Aputure Deity?

The simple way for scratch audio is a Dslrmic wich you can plug directly to your mini jack from the expander.
Like those:

Or on the other spectrum if you have a small preamp the mini cmit, but is it worth it with those fans? Someone should test if the off axis rejection makes miracle.

If you're DSMC2, then you don't have phantom power. In which case, the Rode Video Mic Pro is the way to go.

To keep things clean, I built a little cold shoe mount bracket that attaches to the front of the monitor.

What is it for wifi module behind the Sennheiser?

I use a wireless kit attached to the feed/mixer when possible. A Rode video mic, pro, or Stereo also work really well without addons.
