  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Trying to gather some information here. Based on a R-1 delivery date of Aug 2008, what amount would you seriously consider to "bid", as it were, for a delivered Epic X with the Stage 2 freebies included? Send your figure to 6am4am@gmail.com.

Impossible for people to bid based upon your RED ONE delivery date. They'd have to know your EPIC-X-2 ship date, which is impossible to forecast or guess right now. Could be 3 months, could be 6 months, you just don't know.

Time is money! :)

Even so we are looking for two R1 upgraded and or close to be allow to be upgraded to the MX sensor for a project in development, and very near to begin of shooting date, we obviously wish to invest in R1's which come with the possibility of the Upgrade path to either Stage 2 or just wait it out for the Epic FF which most likely it will be a credit in for just the brain, no discount and or Freebies.

Several I spoke to are in the same position, were they prefer to wait to upgrade to the Epic FF even so they might very well loose the Discount and Freebies.

Off course I already have two Epic-X Stage 2 Reserved, and look forward in getting the Epic 645, to absolutely replace any and all my Still work that comes in the form of Medium and Large Format.

However even if some one interested in actually getting Stage 2, there is an other important factor to take in consideration before dumping money in getting some one else R1 just to cut the line..

There might very well not be a line at all, RED has stated more then once that this time around things will not go as slow as with the R1, so there could possibly be such a shirt wait that will be not worth at all the Premium paid, and for this also RED has announced Scarlet being but just Two months on the tail of Epic, and don't forget the also recently announced Resale Partnership of the first authorized RED Reseller in Asia, I firmly believe that RED this time around will Produce at such high volume that there will be no wait at all, not for cameras and definitely not for accessories, in fact this time around I firmly believe we will start seeing the new accessories come to Sale before even the Epic-X is released!

Ketch, I agree with many of your points, but since RED is requiring a decision by May 1st so they will know how many cameras to build, I also think that due to an uncertain economy they may want to hedge their commitments to their suppliers. Unused parts for unordered cameras are a terrible thing to waste.

But on the customer side of things, an unused $15,000 valued discount and freebies per Stage 2 eligible camera is also a terrible thing to waste

Tick-Tock!

This is a golden opportunity to purchase a place in line that has been held for about three years, at about the same price initially paid.
