  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What was this amazing travel video shot on? Epic? Stunning images

I have no idea what it was shot on but a lot of the slow motion footage looks like it was run through Twixtor... so I would guess that it wasn't shot on a Red/Epic/Scarlet (which shoot slow motion natively).
Also, even though it's a compressed youtube file, it doesn't appear to have been shot on a 4K camera (resolution isn't great and oversampling would show through even on crappy internet stream). Furthermore the highlights in the clouds look a bit clippy and oddly colored which would lead me to believe the colorist was working hard to re-saturate and bring back the clipped highlights (again not a common characteristic of Red/Epic).

I would bet it was shot on a 5D or 7D.

All that said it's very difficult to tell because of youtube's compression.

That ad campaign worked out great. Very well recieved. It was about 14 shoot days total. Got to go to some beautiful places.
Amazing director (Sean Thonson) with a lot of toys. Slow mo stuff was shot with phantom which i believe shoots about 2800 fps.
We also had the Alexa, red, 7d,5d. It was a real shoot, real budget, and professional crew.

Fuuuuuggghhhhh... yeah, all of that was pretty rad looking. Exemplifies horses for courses (what's a 'pun'?)

Very well done, wonderful shots. Except for very few shots, I can't see a big difference between the cameras.

There are a couple of Red One shots in the winter parts, but mostly Phantom Flex, and Alexa, helicopter is Alexa (winter) and Cineflex in the summer, some 5d in there as well...

I was the DIT on this one. Amazing shoot to be on
